The story is cute and I love that Sangwoo is so clearly autistic even without it being stated. But the art style woof, maybe cause I’m not used to reading manhwa but I feel a little unsatisfied when I look at it :/

Did not finish book. Stopped at 30%.
DNF at 30%

The MC was insufferably overdramatic, overemotional, and PAINFULLY millennial. I really tried to get through this one but the MC acted like an unprofessional child for the whole 30% and I just couldn’t deal.

Also the instalust felt weird,  I usually don’t mind it but coupled with the MC’s other flaws, it wasn’t working for me. Both of these men sound insufferable to worth with. One is too professional and the other one needs to be hit with a processional clue by four.

Reread this for the first time in 20 years.

Not gonna lie, it had me in the first half. Before Bella finds out Edward is a vampire, she feels bright and believable. Event he start of their awkward friendship feels very organic and like something I could get behind.

But AS SOON as she finds out he’s a vampire and decides she “loves” him, she turns into a total non-entity of a character. The whole last half of the book is dedicated to Edward info dumping large swaths of vampire lore while Bella sits there like an idiot. Even when James comes into the picture to threaten her, we still have to put up with yet MORE exposition spread throughout exceedingly boring monologues about how Bella doesn’t want anyone to get hurt.

This feels like it’s been flip flopped in my memories. I loved the last half as a kid cause Ooh Vampires, but now I enjoyed the first half cause Ooh Decent Writing.

I’m so glad I gave this author another chance, I loved this SO MUCH. It was funny and spicy and perfectly emotional! I was pleasantly surprised by the narrator, he did a great job bringing these characters to life— and I even enjoyed the way he read the smut 👀

Got nervous at a certain point that the plot would go totally silly, but it kept itself fairly grounded and up being a perfect 5 star read for me!!

For a book that spent so long setting up Ellery’s journey of choosing themselves instead of sacrificing for others, it’s insane that their Big Deed at the end was to put their life in danger for someone else? If feel like we really lost the plot there.

Also the romance felt disjointed. Both way too slow and then so abrupt after they’d both spend so much time avoiding it?

It was cute for the most part, I just wish there was more time and emphasis placed on the magic.

So much of this plot was just not present in the first volume, where did the fading magic bits come from? Also how is Rennedawn’s fable so rare and secretive when every damn assshole in the kingdom knows about it?

The Villain was a patronizing jerk this whole book, let Evie be her own person and stop acting like you have any say in what she does! I got so tired of him trying to “save” her from being evil. And their wishy washy “I love you but we can’t be together” bit got old fast.

I found the characters and themes very interesting, but the overall plot and how it unfolded felt a little convoluted. Especially as more things were revealed, it left me going “wait but why then—?” an awful lot.

Still, a very important book, with a much more satisfying ending than that Promising Young Woman movie ugh.

Thank you Kellen Graves for the ARC, sorry it took so long to finish it.

This was an INSANE installment. Avren is without magic and without their beloved Durae Asche, and everyone is quick to pin all the blame on Prince Cylvan. While Saffron struggles to find a lead for rescuing Asche, Ryder starts making trouble throughout the rest of the kingdom, drawing out a royal retinue to handle the damages. But Saffron and Cylvan’s relationship might not be ready for the strain of Cylvan’s official duties as a prince. Between gossip, blackmail, and fraying threads of composure, Saffron is desperate to put an end to Ryder’s schemes and bring Asche home.

I love the questions this volume brought up about CylSaff’s relationship and how it would look in an official royal capacity. Up until this point (even in the last volume), they’ve been in a little bubble of bliss without much official duty beyond suitors balls. While Cylvan’s reign is still a long way off, I’ve been ITCHING to see these two confronted with the realities of Cylvan’s royal upbringing and Saffron’s tenacity. I was expecting fireworks and I got them (Sidenote: ouch!). Despite the pain, I think this was so needed for them and I was glad to see them go through this.

Even so, there were a lot of cute moments in this, especially between Saffron and his new friends. I enjoyed seeing him weave the pieces of his old into the finer fabric of his new life as a high fey. And I love that he’s growing his support system beyond one hedgewitch in a whole other court. Even if one of the those new supports is just objectively hilarious for reasons I can’t begin to say.

I’m also waiting with bated breath for Copper and Sionnach’s big damn kiss. Come on, Graves I know it’s coming!!! They’re so cute together I’m obsessed. And with the way things left off,,, 👀

As for everything else: HOLY SHIT! The things that were revealed!!! I called some of it BUT WAS BLIND SIDED FULLY BY OTHERS. And the ending?! What a cliffhanger! What tension!!! I think I’ll scream into the void now.
