So much of this plot was just not present in the first volume, where did the fading magic bits come from? Also how is Rennedawn’s fable so rare and secretive when every damn assshole in the kingdom knows about it?

The Villain was a patronizing jerk this whole book, let Evie be her own person and stop acting like you have any say in what she does! I got so tired of him trying to “save” her from being evil. And their wishy washy “I love you but we can’t be together” bit got old fast.
