This story totally had me in its grip for almost half the book. Then the heroine had to go and do something stupid.
Megan is a widow dealing with the second anniversary of her husband's death. Her grief calls to life a snow God named Owen. Things between them escalate quickly which really bothers her on an emotional level. I get that, I really do. But I HATE when the heroine has to "get away to get her head together". This isn't the first book that's had that happen and I'm sure it won't be the last. I guess I just don't get that. Megan knew Owen was on a schedule and left him anyway, to dire consequences. (I won't get into specifics) He NEEDED her and though he didn't exactly spell it out, a three year old would have been able to piece together the reality of his situation. So what does she do? She sees him weakening and decides to go grocery shopping then stops for a leisurely cup of coffee. I was so pissed by that point of the book I almost didn't finish it, which is rare for me.
But this is a romance so of course there is a happy ending. I almost thought the moron didn't deserve it. She had been fine up to that point then suddenly turned into a TSTL heroine. And for what? Because things were happening too fast and she was an emotional wreck. Again, I get that but I don't think it was a strong enough argument to outweigh the hero's immediate needs.
Overall a decent story. I LOVED the hero. If you can get past the part I'm talking about it is a good read.

I loved the mythology of this book. The portrayal of grief and the difficulty of letting go hit me right in the heart. This wasn't the greatest love story I've ever read, but it was a heartwarming novel nonetheless. I didn't like how Meghan's career or personality were left unexplored, she was only referred to in some instances as a widow, only viewed in terms of her worth when it came to the fact that her happiness had been torn away. That said, I'll probably grab the next book in the series, it was a fun read!

Christmas miracles... Never have they been both sweet and sinful at the same time. Laura Kaye, is one amazing story teller and an equally amazing winter goddess *winks*. Spinning a tale of love, forgiveness, true happiness and new beginnings our winter goddess takes us on a roller coaster ride. Following the ins and outs of starting over and finding true love, acceptance, and even more important freedom.
Megan Snow, is a women trapped in an endless loop of pain and heartache , ever since her late husband John died two years ago. Moving on for her is as about as easy us humans getting up and flying on our own. She is so full of grief, she can't even be around her family and their walking on eggshells routine So Megan heads to the cabin her and John had shared. Feeling lonely and mourning she decided to build a snowman, but by the time she is done, she has built and entire family. Emotions break free, and she's caught in the web of despair, until a miracle happens.
HER TEARS BRING HIM TO LIFE.
Sent to her by her deceased husband John, Owen Winters is a God of Winter and having been through his own heartbreak and misery he knows all to well her struggle and most of all how she was really feeling. Owen his a sweet, charming, thoughtful and a typical man sometimes withholding information. Armed with John's memories of her, he sets out on a mission to save her, to be there for her, to help her move past her pain and learn to live again. What he didn't expect was how he would feel about her once he was in her actual company.
Sparks fly between these two beings, who are very much meant to be together and with a little help from John, Megan begins to open up and let some light into her once dark world. This fast paced, emotional story where Frosty the Snowman meets the widow will take you on a personal journey and make you think about your own life. It is a fun, but serious story that is heartfelt and full of life's unexpected twists and turns. A must read for any paranormal, fantasy, romance readers who enjoy a fast story that will have you turning pages from the beginning to end.

This seemed a quick read, and happens over the festive period of about a week.
Megan Snow is at the lodge she used to spend with her husband who died two years ago and is still having a problem with her grief. After making a snow family and crying out on the snowman, Owen, Winters, the North Wind appears later after having agreed to help her as her husband is a very watered down relative.
Both have an immediate connection and he helps her not only get over her grief, but move on with him and she takes the truth of his powers very well.
We get so see another paranormal, who is like a father to Owen and we also get a suitably happy ending and a good prologue.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

North of Need follows Megan Snow on her Christmas vacation, the second Christmas without her husband. She spends Christmas alone but later that night a sexy, naked man appears on her front porch. Owen Winters was sent by the God's on behalf of her husband to try and help her find happiness after the tragic loss of her husband two years prior.
This book is what I expected it to be, though super cheesy, which I again pretty much expected. It was good and entertaining. The tension was built on whether she would choose to love him forever or let him go. Honestly the characters were pretty well-written and it was fun losing myself in this story. Their dilemmas were interesting, the sex scenes were written decently. Not bad. The cheesy-ness ruined se parts because I just couldn't help laughing but overall it was really good. The ending was really well-done and left it open for the sequels while still giving closure for these characters, which I really liked. Great book, I enjoyed it. Definitely something I would read again and recommend for anyone wanting a faster, more playful, and easy read!

NORTH OF NEED starts off the HEARTS OF ANEMOI series and I liked the uniqueness of the mythology. It centers around the Anemoi, which are the Gods who control the weather and the winds but it's mostly focused on Owen, who is a lesser Winter God. He's been given the chance to find love with a human woman, Megan, but there's a timeline for her to fall in love or else he must return home. I really liked both Megan and Owen as characters and they make a great couple. Megan is still hurting from the loss of her husband and her struggle to move on and stop blaming herself for his death. Connecting with Owen, who finds so much enjoyment in every little thing, reminds Megan what it means to be alive. I thought Megan's grief was written really well and the way Owen accepts her past love was beautiful. Both Megan and Owen have such giving and compassionate hearts and that helps keep this story uplifting even with the heavier emotions.
Content Warning: Megan is still grieving over the loss of her husband in a car accident 2 years before

Probably my least favorite of hers out of the three I've read so far. I'm wavering between 3 and 3.5 stars. It wasn't bad at all, very well written and edited, and I really did like the characters.
My complaint is, considering the subject matter (woman grieving her dead husband, man is a snow god made man just for her), it was all just too easy. She accepted this new guy too quickly, she accepted what he was too easily, and other than one afternoon where she couldn't face telling him she loved him because she feared losing another man, then they made it better and it was all ok.
It was more than twice the length of Hearts in Darkness, but I think it had like half the depth and heart.

If you have ever been sitting by your Christmas tree, drinking eggnog and listening to Christmas music like “Frosty the Snowman” and thought, “This song would make a great paranormal romance novel” - then this is the book for you.
Our heroine Megan is a widow, spending Christmas alone in a cabin, thinking about how her husband died on Christmas in a car accident getting her eggnog.
And that’s why you shouldn’t drink eggnog - also it’s disgusting.
She builds a snowman family, as one does, and then realizes she’s all alone and cries on the snowman. And little does she know that her tears will bring the snowman to life.
He goes by Owen Winters, although I called him Frosty the whole time and will continue to do so. Frosty is a god of winter, sent by Megan’s husband to help her move on. He’s super sexy of course.

Oh yeah...
Frosty is silly and funny and sweet, as one would expect from a snowman come to life who only eats ice cream. This was a straightforward romance with little drama. It’s funny and free if you want a silly book to read around the holidays.

This is a story that will tug at your heartstrings, fanning your face, and leave you wanting more - which is a good thing. It is sweet and hot, sexy and sensuous, funny and teary.
Megan Snow was widowed two years ago at Christmas. Like the previous year, she opts to spend this second anniversary alone in the mountain cabin she shared with her husband John, away from friends and family. She expects to be sad and lonely. What she doesn't expect is the freak blizzard that knocks out power and closes the mountain. She also doesn't expect the hunky, half-naked man who collapses on her doorstep.
This is a great paranormal romance with enough conflict to keep the story interesting and enough heat to melt the coldest heart. A definite must for lovers of paranormal romance. I can't wait for the others in this series.
