Wings by Aprilynne Pike

This could be another book jumping on the whole TWILIGHT thing, but it does stand on its own with orginiality. Of course we have the whole female who needs rescusing and will it be a human or the fairy. We have a conflict between good and evil. We have the whole must hide from parents thing and threats everywhere. What makes it work, is the descriptive world of fairies, the tight writing and the ability to twist things and make it work.
Motion to Suppress by Perri O'Shaughnessy

The book started out real strong, battered woman attacks husband and he goes missing but she has no clue on what happened that night. She blocked it all out and has no memory of the attack. What worked in this book is the legal setting in the courtroom, the case and how it ended. What didn't work was all the side stories, which in a way is setting up the rest of the series?
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher

Harry is in a class by himself, living in the human world and practicing wizard magic which many don't understand. I also like how he makes comments directly to the reader as a secret to the characters in the book. In this installment, violent killings are occuring in Chicago around the full moon. So yes it is about werewolves, but the how and why behind it make up the book. Harry finds himself in hot water by chapter 3 and stays that way through out the book. He makes enemies of his friends and friends from enemies. This is a different take on how werewolves are formed and I learned there are many types of werewolves too. There are funny, sad, LOL moments, and a very strong story behind it all.

After a strong story in [b:Angel's Tip|2777577|Angel's Tip (Ellie Hatcher series)|Alafair Burke|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255648530s/2777577.jpg|2803335]this book started out strong and then took a turn, not a twist into a rather boring story. Megan is a college student who is being harassed by a website with stalker postings and scary threats. She is murdered and Hatcher the NYPD cop is assigned the case. In the beginning they research into this website and how it contributed to Megan's murder. Pretty soon, that angle is dropped and focus turns to the roommate with a past that can't be traced. Earlier Hatcher had another murder that she was working, and they are told parellal through the book, when the cases collide the book falls flat.
Undead Much by Stacey Jay

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, but with the ending hopefully a new direction will emerge. Megan is trying to be a normal teenager, have the first love of her life and make the pom pom squad. Only problem is she can but the undead/zombies back in the grave until one day she can't. She felt safe with her enemies either locked in jail or a mental hospital. Before she knows it, she is clearing her name accused of either having mutated blood causing the strange attacks or using the forbidden black magic. The reason I didn't enjoy this book as much, as it rehashed the grudges and hatred from the first book. I did enjoy Aaron part in it , as I didn't see that coming and can't wait to see where the Jill/Aaron body turns up next, I really don't see it staying dad. As for Megan and Ethan, she is young, her life is quite complicated and will be intersting to see a female progtanigst defend the world instead of a love triangle like many YA books seem to do nowadays.
Tribulation Force by Jerry B. Jenkins, Tim LaHaye
4.0
The second book describing what happens when the end is near, this book answers as many questions as it leaves behind to ponder. This book is fiction, but is filled with factual acts that the Bible says will come true when Christ returns. In this segment the foursome becomes the Tribulation force, and begins to move out into the world bringing their message to the masses. They get a lot of resistance from the group working on ONE WORLD POWER, and the way they work that to their advantage is incredible. I won't give the book a 5, because the very last page made me mad.
Revelations by Melissa de la Cruz

This book starts off very slow and ends with a bang. The gang is meandering through another school year and in off hours taking lessons on vampirism with the Conclave. The bookjacket tells of a trip to Rio but that happens in the last 50 pages of the book. Jack and Schulster admit their love for each other and meets secretly. Mimi is furious and moves up the bonding ceremony while playing with Schulster's mind. Oliver remains true to her due to be her familar but his in agony over his future. In the end, the truth is revealed about the Silver Bloods as most of the Conclave is killed in Rio. Bliss is shown in a night and shocking light, and Jordan is removed from the family for her attempt to kill Bliss. I found the first third of this book quite boring and redundant to the previous novels. The rest of the novel was used to built up suspense for future novels.

Usually when reading a series, with this many additions it is like catching up with an old friend, not this time. China is quite whiny and preachy throughout the whole book. Characters talking to the reader while telling the story, usually is a fun thing for me. I get information other characters don't have and it adds to the depth of the plot. Instead I get a lecture from China about how bad the economy is and how urban sprawl is hurting the Texas countryside. If I want this I will watch the news. Now for the mystery, where was it? McQuaid's ex wife blows into town and from past novels we know this is bad news. Well she is in trouble and will bring heartbreak to the family, but no tense moments, and really no action in this novel. And most of the characters only make cameo appearances and China telling the story just didn't work.
Magic Hour by Kristin Hannah

I was just recently introduced to this author with [b:Angel Falls: A Novel|276342|Angel Falls A Novel|Kristin Hannah|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1173343116s/276342.jpg|1521035]but knew I needed to read more books by this author. I started this book Saturday morning and thanks to Nature classes, band reherseal and a long movie, I finished Saturday evening. Dr Julia Cates is a disgraced doctor recovering from a possible lawsuit and permament damage to her career. Alice is a traumatized child who wonders into her sister's town and turns their lives upside down. While Julia protects Alice and works with her as a doctor to find out why she is so introveted, it also heals Julia. Hannah's research into the medical mystery of Alice is well worked through the plot and just adds substance to it. She also gives us Julia and shows how she is healing by plunging herself into her work, and almost turning into a workaholic. Julia is saved by the people in the town who cares what kind of person she is, not the work she does. Her sister and her also begin to heal their sibling rivalry and become close again. The reason this book won't get a 5 is because I don't need endings wrapped up all happy ever after. I think the sad ending would of been a better fit.
