The Eleventh Victim by Nancy Grace
2.0
I guess a 2.5 rating would work. I felt as if I was reading 3 short stories that were somehow turned into a novel. The whole storyline taking place in the islands of Georgia had NOTHING to do with the main plot which is a convicted murderer has his sentence overturn and plots his revenge. Oh how did that happen you ask, well the second story is a judge who gave away his vote for a chance to be governor. For a moment that story fit with the plot, but then we travel the road of corrupt politicans. If these stories tie into the main plot can someone explain how? As for the main story, if it was the focal point for the whole book, I would give it a 4. I don't believe Hailey wouldn't of been notifed by the courts of this prisoner's release, someone from her hometown would of told her or it would of been mention in the news. Aside from that, having her be stalked by the killer, was engaging especially at the end when it wasn't exactly who I thought it was. It had a couple funny moments too.

Amanda Travis has spent her life running from commitment, family ties and facing her past. She moves to Florida to be far away from her mother and her first ex-husband. One day the phone rings and it is Ben her ex, telling her to come home to Tornoto because her mother just shot a man in cold blood. After making it very clear, she has no intentions of coming home, she is on a plane to Canada. Once there, her mother is cold and aloof, refusing to answering any questions about the man she killed. Amanda is quite stubborn refuses to leave until she learns the truth. And the truth comes out and there are more twists than a corkscrew. This book could be a 5 except when she is hunting the answers she needs, there is no use of the internet. The book was writtne in 2005, and some of the things she needed to find, could of been found using google.

I LOVE her series set in National Parks with Anna Pigeon as the main character. The beginning of this book really pulled me and I couldn't wait to see where it took me. When we switched to Louisana, I got lost. That part of the plot was tiresome to read and I couldn't get the connection with the story in Minnesota. A young boy in Minnesota kills his whole family violently except for his brother. We see his story unfold during his years in lock up. His brother is very supportive of him, and is taken in by a loving woman during these years. Now we switch to Lousiana, Polly is a girl who up and left one day for New Orleans and never looked back. I never saw the clues as to how these stories connected and by time the ending which took me by surprise and was the best part of the book, I didn't really care to hear more about Polly's life.
Hunters of the Dusk by Darren Shan

It has been a while but Darren has accepted the role of Prince and is doing an okay job at the war with the vampereze. This book I enjoyed because they FINALLY left Vampire Mountain. Mr. Tiny arrives and predicts doom for the vampires and states how the war must be fought. Why they decide to listen to him, I don't get it. I think he is two faced, creepy and up to no good. At the end we return to the Circus for a visit and Darren and his group realize how hard the fight will be to save the vampire race.
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

Once I got past all the name brand dropping and thinking Gossip girl invades the vampire world, it was a very good Read. Schulyver Van Alen is the misfit who doesn't fit into the mold of New York High Society. She wears clothes that make her look like a homeless runaway and doesn't bow down to the rich mean girls of the school. Soon she notices blue veins on her body and blackout and memories that have her tumbling back in time. A visit to Dr Pat, informs her she is a blue blood aka Vampire. These vampires came over on the Mayflower and are refered to as the 400. Only things are not normal as something is attacking them and the elders refuse to tell the new generation the truth. Schulvyer, Oliver who she learns is a servant to her, and Dylan who doesn't fit anywhere. There is a death of a classmate, strange attacks and more questions than answers. She learns she is only half vamp and must find her grandfather in order to live for eternity.

I am attempting to read mor christain novels after reading [b:The Shack|1812457|The Shack|William P. Young|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51km9XU29RL._SL75_.jpg|2666268]. This author is quite popular and was recommended. I enjoyed the setting of the NFL world, and learning more about children in foster care. I did not enjoy how everything was tied in a neat package at the end. The ending was very predictable and boring to an otherwise engaging story. Melissa is raising Cory after his mother suddenly falls ill and dies. Aaron Hill is the quarterback for the 49ers and Cory believes with all his heart that he is his father. Melissa is a single mom working two jobs just to keep food on the table and while she loves Cory with all her heart, his obsession with his father is very hard to handle. She wants to adopt him, but with him holding onto a father walking in his life, she can't. They live in different worlds but when Aaron needs to clean up his image, they come together at the foster home where she volunteers. Derrick is the man who brings God to Aaron and helps him change his life. The ending was predictable because Melissa finally gives Aaron a chance and the rest is history.
You Are So Undead to Me by Stacey Jay

Closer to 4.5. My first zombie read and it was quite good. Megan is a Settler, she thought this life was over when a horrible accident with zombies took her powers away. Just when she is being a normal teenager the zombies show up again. THis book has the normal teen angst in, but is delivered in a funny way. I had quite a few LOL moments reading it. Being a debut novel, it took while to get the writing in gear and have the characters and plot and subplots to come together. The ending was suprise that I didn't see it coming. It was a fun read with some mystery thrown in.

This author is highly recommended on goodreads, so I gave it a try. Mikela is a loving wife with two children and suffers a horrible accident that leaves her in a coma. Her husband who is a doctor understands she may never wake up but he never gives up hope. He talks to her, brings her favorite items and has the kids visit. One day he discovers a link to her past and it shocks him. This is where the story gave me pause, it was too easy to reach her past and have her first husband come to see her. He is a favorite movie star and just drops everything to come to her side. Well he does come and Liam her current husband learns of his wife's past something she walled up many years ago. And Jacey is the only good thing from that time period, only Jacey never knew the truth either. And their is Brett he saw his mother's accident and has a lot of acting out problems, only his dad doesn't really address it. The only problem I had with book that there was build up and a great storyline and as we approach the end it got too rushed.
Blue Moon by Alyson Noël

I loved [b:Evermore|3975774|Evermore (The Immortals, #1)|Alyson Noel|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Nvg6-chmL._SL75_.jpg|4021549]and recommend it every chance I get. Blue Moon begins right where Evermore stops, but a few things I don't remember. Ever is still adjusting to her life and learning all about things present and past from Damien. Things are great until Roman shows up. All of a sudden her world is turned inside out and she is the outsider looking in. This book had some growing pains, in the middle the story started to wander and it took a while for it to jump into high gear again. When it does, Ever has choices to make that will affect herself and life around her forever. The ending saved the book, and made it a worthwhile read. I can't wait to see where they go next.
