This was a cute and fun alien read with a little twist. Since we're earth-side for this book, I thought of it as almost a reverse X-Files case where we're siding with the Thing That Goes Bump In The Night. There was a fun road tripping/on the run aspect to the story, too. Overall very cute if you're looking to get into alien or monster romances.
I had a really hard time sticking with this book (but I did manage to make through to the end). It didn't flow like the previous in the series for me. Instead it felt boring and like the same issues were played over and over again without finding solutions to them. By the time we do get solutions, at the very end, they seemed so obvious and easy...why did it take us so long to get here, then? I wasn't a fan of the way Yash's anxiety and panic attacks were handled. And ultimately, I just didn't really believe the love story. This was technically a second chance trope, but both times are described as instalove (neither are tropes I usually enjoy) which didn't really make sense to me. And there wasn't a deeper dive into WHY this couple should be together other than their intense pull to one another.
I wasn't fully expecting how good this book was going to be! I had seen buzz about the steamy scenes being good (whoa mama, yes), but I hadn't seen anyone talking about the other amazing pieces if this book. The main character Perdie is kinda a bitch and I love her for it. There is a great found family aspect with her best friend and their shared dog. And the male lead, Carter, is super yummy and not a typical lead you'd find in a story like this. He was a sweetie who isn't afraid to feel emotions or make you cum four times in a row. But my favorite part happens in the end of the book and the work Perdie puts into herself. She sees her own shortcomings and steps up to help herself out. Seriously *chef's kiss*.
I finally picked this up after seeing sooo many people in my bookstagram community picking it up. WOW-it was such a great read. I loved the post apocalyptical darkness as the setting. And Danny and Wyn were just perfect as MCs. A little grumpy sunshine is never a bad thing! There is also unconventional road tripping.
One content warning I want to include is for the last third of the book. There is graphic and on page torture / bodily harm. I was wholly unprepared for this (I usually don't read really dark romances), and so it completely took me off guard here since the rest of the book didn't lend to that style. I've heard the other books in the series do not contain violent scenes like this. Hope that helps since I never see anyone talking about this as CW.
This was an awesome novella. It was very short, but super spicy. I loved the premise of accidently summoning a war demon into your destroyed kitchen. Lemming is hilarious and doesn't disappoint here!
This review is solely for the novella included in this online bundle.
I loved it! It was so fun and the characters were great. Definitely worth the extra download and a fun way to wrap up where all the lost babies had gone. I was especially into the MMC who was a mix of like three different kinds of monsters, haha. He was fun to read.
This story was fine, technically nothing I would ping it on. But I found it underwhelming and nagas aren't my kind of monster. This is lower in the series for me.
I have been excited for Quan's book since he was introduced in THE KISS QUOTIENT. And he was even dreamier than I ever thought was possible. Hoang really delivered an emotionally mature and empathetic soul in this character. Real world humans just can't cut it anymore. I loved that Anna's journey was semi blended with autobiographical moments from Hoang's own life. There was a visceral rawness and reality to the emotion that spoke to me. It is a work of art. It is human and beautiful and perfect in it's imperfections. Even though it heavily focuses on Anna's autism diagnosis, depression, anxiety, and familial struggles this story manages to make Quan feel an equal part of the narrative. This is a love story, but a real one. Love can't fix your wrongs or instantly heal your wounds...but it can give you a companion to walk through the fire with. While I'm sure an emotional journey like this is not for everyone, I absolutely loved getting inside both Anna and Quan's minds.
I loved this book in the Icehome series!! Ruby really out did herself here!!
I wasn't expecting to be so besotted with I'rec, but he really pulled himself out of his own ass, haha. He was surprisingly interesting as a Not-Hoth alien and I liked that he was kinda rude-but not to Flor, of course. Super excited to see how Ruby will pivot this series now. I will literally read these books until my dying breath haha.
I had a really hard time with this book. Which was disappointing because I've enjoyed the other Cambrick Creek books and was especially looking forward to Lowell's story. Unfortunately, I had a very hard time with the flow of this book. The MCs don't even meet until maybe 33% of the way into the book. That is always a hard sell to me in a romance, but it was especially difficult in this one since the writing didn't lend to tangible character growth. Everything felt really long and drawn out, even the first meeting of our MCs. And then once they meet, it's like a race track to love. Total turn around, but I wasn't feeling the romance.
I occasionally have the experience that Nascosta's writing moves in strange spirals. The ones in this book were very internal thought processes, including the steam scenes (so I couldn't really get into those either). Sometimes her writing really works for me and sometimes it feels like a big ol' miss. I was sad to say I was too bored to finish this one. But I hold out hope that her next is my cup of tea.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
