Recursion by Blake Crouch

Loved this book. I'm not usually a sci fi gal but this had me questioning my taste. It was pretty fast paced and kept me at the edge of my seat & at times nail biting, what's going to happen next?! Towards the end I did wonder if it would ever end and possible spoiler but the looping was starting to drive me mad but aside from that I thoroughly enjoyed this and cant wait to read more from this author!

My rating seems to be an unpopular opinion and that’s fine. I think this was too hyped up. For me, the ending fell flat. It wasn’t what I expected but it was more the delivery. It seemed rushed and I wanted more. More details. More excitement. It just felt like it was, this is what happened and were done now. I felt like more could have happened to make it more thrilling throughout as well. I just expected to be creeped out or scared but I wasn’t.

I loved this mystery. It wasn’t as creepy as some describe but it had its moments. I loved the character development and the father-son dynamics. It was refreshing to read a story where the main character was man and better yet a father instead of same damsel in Distress all the time. Love a female lead but sometimes I love reading a male perspective. These characters were flawed but you rooted for them. There was a few elements of supernatural and... spoiler alert possibly...
I wish it had went in that directions. It would have made it a bit more spooky. It was definitely a page turner for me tho and I did enjoy it. I will say tho even tho I loved this book, I could have done without the last bit. Last chapter or was it the epilogue. Whichever. I don’t care for that last piece. I wish it was left out. Or that it went in the opposite way

This was a fast read for me! I couldn’t put it down. Told in multiple perspectives and told in past and present tense. Such a great mystery. Kept me guessing the whole way through. Even with secrets being revealed , you still have questions until it’s all revealed at the end. Great story! definitely didn’t expect the last bit at the end there!

Where to begin with this book. At first I was immediately hooked. It started with such intensity with an action packed start that kept you going page after page needing to know what happened next. I loved the character development and getting inside of their heads and feeling what they were feeling until suddenly things didn't make sense. There's time jumps in this novel that aren't specified that leave me confused. I had to go back a couple times to make sure I had read previous parts correctly. It makes it hard to read because it's not marked that you're going back or forward so it was confusing to me to know what was actually happening. Honestly i couldn't finish this book because it just got to be too much with the time jumps that i just didn't care. I think if the layout was set up differently or if the chapters were clearly labeled so you were able to adjust, I probably would have really enjoyed this

I loved this thriller! It kept me in suspense through most if not all of the book! I couldn’t stop reading! I kept trying to guess the twists but was surprised by them! This read had me really stressed out waiting for it all to be unraveled. Definitely a page turner! And I’ll be checking out the other novel by this other for sure! I loved that the author showed a real side of motherhood and I felt a kinship with the protagonist as a mother myself.

I was pretty intimidated by the size of this book. Not that I haven’t read books this big or even longer but not many! Although it’s a little lengthy, it was a quick read and the short chapters helped! -love me some short chapters lol. Anyway, this book was told in multiple points of view, some POV only have one chapter from that particular character, this was only a slight issue because it took a moment to figure out who’s POV you were reading. But it was a fast paced story & I wanted to know what happened next. It’s described as being gory but I didn’t find it to be too much. I love a good who dunit book & I’ll be honest, I had no clue! It wasn’t until closer to the end when it was revealed & it was nice for it not to be predictable. I did hope for a little more with two characters — spoiler alert— I wanted the two cops to get together! But it wasn’t what the story was about either so it’s ok.
If you want a good police procedural who dunit book, then I definitely recommend this one!
