Why don’t you just go ahead and add this to your summer reading list. Just do it & thank me later.
the main character Hannah is Sandra Bullock in Miss Congenality. Her personality is focused, professional and absolutely hilarious. This is one you can easily fly through, laughing along the way, and completely be emersed in the story.
Were you obsessed with the little mermaid and/or the movie Aquamarine?
Do you like queer YA romance books?
If you answered YES to any of those questions - reads this book!
This one centers on Sean, a high school student who just got dumped and is feeling quite blue. Have no fear though, because Ross, a merperson, just washed up on the beach and has to help a human before the next full moon cycle. If that sentence didn’t make sense, don’t worry, just read the book and all will be explained :)
This book was so cute, and touched on representation of nonbinary identity and high school love.
THE IT GIRL is an academic thriller (my fav) featuring a group of friends that all went through the tragic death of their friend April. The story unfold in dual timelines (done very well), but still moved very slowly for my taste. I had a hard time getting into the story and the ending dragged on endlessly. I also predicted the murderer which never happens so kinda disappointed 😞
Can you tell I’m a dedicated @rileysager reader? From the first book of his that I picked up, I was hooked. The twisty, turny, unexpected, stories of his are just what I live for in a thriller.
His latest, THE HOUSE ACROSS THE LAKE, starts with the very cliche story of a woman, drinking her days away, and spying on her neighbors. With many of Sager’s books, he starts with a plot that makes you think you know what’s going to happen. In this case, that is exactly the case - almost making fun of the cliche.
I am leaving it at that, because with any of his books, I encourage you to pick up the book without knowing things. The influence of social media is real, but try to stay away for this one!! See how shocked you are with how it ends up… 🤯🫢
If you've followed my reading journey, you know I've been diving into witchy romance reads as of late. This one was less romance-esque and more magical realism/fantasy which I still loved!
As expected knowing this is the first book in a trilogy, this gem really set the groundwork for the community of witches it covers. There are tons of characters, lots of action, and witchy rules to follow, but none of it felt challenging to keep up with. The writing flowed so beautifully that you never felt out of touch with the story.
One of the main characters of the book, Theo, is a young warlock facing a number of challenges, one of which being gender exploration. While there are traces of transphobia in this book, there is also a lot of love and beauty in Theo's journey. I am secretly hoping Theo is features more in future books - I want to know them better!!
Overall, great book! Catch me patiently waiting for book #2. Thank you Penguin Random House for this gift copy!
