Oooooooo was this one gooood.
If you've followed my reading journey, you know I've been diving into witchy romance reads as of late. This one was less romance-esque and more magical realism/fantasy which I still loved!
As expected knowing this is the first book in a trilogy, this gem really set the groundwork for the community of witches it covers. There are tons of characters, lots of action, and witchy rules to follow, but none of it felt challenging to keep up with. The writing flowed so beautifully that you never felt out of touch with the story.
One of the main characters of the book, Theo, is a young warlock facing a number of challenges, one of which being gender exploration. While there are traces of transphobia in this book, there is also a lot of love and beauty in Theo's journey. I am secretly hoping Theo is features more in future books - I want to know them better!!
Overall, great book! Catch me patiently waiting for book #2. Thank you Penguin Random House for this gift copy!
