No one likes a mad woman ain’t that the truth!!!! Wanted to love this and didn’t but I did enjoy it. Can’t say I didn’t almost cheer at the ending.

The power of these women, I don’t have words and I’m not sure if I will. As a survivor, thank you. This is not a perfect book but that’s not the point. So impactful and so necessary. I wish I had more to say but all I will emphasis is please read this, you need to read this.

No rating because it’s a children’s book. As a proud Aboriginal woman, such an great book for our children to be exposed to, for both First Nations and Australian children (and probably some white parents too could use the help)

I am so disappointed that I didn’t enjoy this. Honestly I love books that lean more towards musings than plot, but was also a book with beautiful prose that almost purposefully avoids any mention of politics or history that could show a stance or opinion. I learnt nothing of the characters, and really nothing of the earth which is the true main character of this book. I wanted to love this, just fell really flat for me and I’m sad this is my first book of 2025.

It feels wrong to give this a rating, mainly due to the fact it was so personal and more of Keough’s wish to complete this for LMP and memorialise her mothers words, I can’t imagine what that must have been like for her and I am astonished by her strength to do so.  This book feels unfinished, but I think that’s okay, and reflects what real life is like. Sometimes we lose people too soon and that is an unchanging fact. As someone who grew up with a parent addicted to pain medication and watched them in a lot of ways be a victim to how for a long time the health system pushed pain medication, my heart breaks for LMP and Keough. Addiction is a private illness for many, shrouded in shame and guilt for their loved ones, and hearing LMP speak about how drugs infiltrated her family just breaks my heart. This wasn’t perfect but I am so glad I read it, and seriously listen to the audiobook version, both Robert’s and Keough performed beautifully; and hearing LMP speak in interviews throughout was really grounding for her story.

Opinions are still raw from reading but god this so powerful and honest. The conversations around DFV and the cyclical and invasive power it can have in the home is gut wrenching. Impossible to rate this any lower than 5 stars

If the final battle wasn’t such an emotional rollercoaster this would probably be ranked lower but when I’m bawling my eyes out for a solid hour reading this it’s hard to forget that. The pacing is all over the place and I seriously dgaf about Snape and all his “suffering” you’re trying to tell me in the 7 years he taught Harry at school he never was able to feel ANY compassion for him and only played his part in the order because of Lily? He never stopped and thought hmmm maybe Lily would want me to be a kinder person and not a total freak all the time??? But that’s just me. And what’s the deal with him being so awful to Neville my poor sweet Neville he was stuck in a loop of mourning the loss of his parents and at the same time never living up to them in his grandmothers eyes just to come to school and be so terrified of Snape that he becomes his boggart??? I don’t forget that shit fuck Snape glad he’s dead tbh. And Harry you’re a stupid fucker for memorialising him in your son’s name but you are extremely traumatised so I forgive you. Also is it just me or is Voldemort just not scary in this idk he’s not even menacing mostly just a nuisance and a whiny bitch. If only we lived in a world where we got to see the next generation living a relaxing life and getting an actual education at hogwarts without the threat of death and destruction but instead we got the cursed child 🤷🏻‍♀️
