Did not finish book. Stopped at 62%.

Okay so I'm ngl I was actually in the mind to finish this book and then the best character in the whole thing went "the elves have negroes too, i wouldnt have expected that." It just made me dislike her immediately when I don't think you're supposed to and apparently according to a review I read she goes on to say slurs later as well as a bunch of casual racism???

In regard to the rest of the book I did like 1 of the flashbacks, that was honestly my favourite part of the whole story, which was on the myths. I wish there were more of a focus there than with the other stuff.

It legit took to about 60% for anything significant to actually happen after the beggining events which was upsetting. I was just holding out hope that something big would happen.

The characters of Loki and Beatrice were good until Beatrice said that line so that was disappointing. Amy was by far one of the most annoying characters in the whole thing honestly felt like stopping a few times just for her.

Overall it had an interesting premise, not a great execution though. I wouldn't recommend it clearly.

Honestly just hated the writing style, very much tell not show. Still gonna try Thirteen because the plot seems so good but this one is just gonna have to go.

I did expect this book to be a lot more than it was.

This book follows 3 people, a detective a therapist and a lawyer as they navigate a murder eerily similar to one that happened 15 years earlier.

I did really like the plot, I thought it was original and interesting and I was invested in the connections between both crimes. Despite that, I felt like there wasn't a lot of emphasis on the crimes and the links and the murders themselves.

The sections about Mr Nirvana got on my nerves and I'm not gonna lie I did just skip all of them except the last one because I just was not interested.

One thing I did love was the twists at the end. They made a lot of sense and didn't come out of nowhere for shock value. You could see through the book how exactly this happened.

On the other hand, the ending itself for me felt very rushed, it seemed like all the action happened in the last 15 pages and then the book ended. Even the epilogue felt like it was glossed over.

Overall, while I wouldn't read it again, it's a decent read.

I find it hard to review short stories but here we go.

I was expecting with where it is in the series that this book would be easier to read or understand as there wouldn't need to be as much context as there was. However, I was not pleasantly surprised by this as I was very much confused.

It felt like the middle of a novel, I just thought I had missed so much and even though people say that you should read the first book in the series before this a short story should be able to stand on its own.

I did however love the writing style and the characters. The author does emotions well and Sigyn was done with a particular pain that I thought was done well.

Overall, I do want to read the series now so wolves will be one of my next reads but I would not recommend this as a stand-alone story.

I wanted so badly to like this book but I did not.

I would tell you what this book is about but in all honesty, I don't know because I really didn't get it.

Every time I thought I had a grasp on what was happening the book jumped ahead in the story. I also understand that the sequences inside the hospital were supposed to be confusing but I was lost when they switched out.

For lack of a better word, this book felt like it was a pretentious read, that people say they enjoy it because it makes them seem smarter.

I want to acknowledge that I did finish the book and it's also a translation so bits may have been lost there that would have made it easier to understand but I do wish it had more substance.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this at all, though the concept of it is something I'm interested in reading more about.

This book follows a soldier Lebna as he's left with a baby that he must deliver to a dropship, in the middle of a warzone without dying.

Honestly, while I like to watch them I never usually read about the military or military-like main characters or stories so I wasn't expecting to like this book as much as I did.

In the small amount of time I was reading this I got a good idea of the world, the system and what the people are like. The author set out well exactly how this world is.

I loved the action scenes. It was none stop from beginning to end and honestly, I enjoyed that. While bits were confusing I was eventually able to visualise well and had a good idea of what the setting looked like which is a big thing in action scenes.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this and I do want to read one of the series by this author because of it. I would recommend it if you want something short and fast-paced.

When it comes to non-fiction books I don't feel it's fair to give a review based on the content or subject matter or the experiences of a person (if it's that kind of book).

But I do feel here that I need to praise Chanel Miller for telling her story and for telling it so well.

While there are large pieces I cannot relate to, I still feel heard and find comfort in what she has written. Her voice really comes through in this, in a way that is deeply personal and vulnerable which I appreciate because it didn't need that to still be a good book.

You feel just how much she has put into this and the writing is in such a way that it flows so well. I feel that this is an essential book and I hope that it continues to spark conversation about rape culture when people do read it.

I think I expected this book to be more than it was.

The selling point for me was really the murder mystery which was probably the best aspect of this book. I loved the futuristic elements of it in terms if evidence etc and also how the different cultures connected with this.

In terms of the other stuff honestly I didn't find it interesting enough to care too much. I wanted to stop reading at the beginning but then the murder happened and peaked my interest. I think I had too much trouble getting to grips with the peace talks and the relevant things surrounding it.

I just think that without the context it was a pretty complicated and big story to fit into a short book but I didn't hate it so yeah.

This was everything I hoped it would be.

This book follows Gamma, Delta and the remaining humans on a colony ship on the moon. These humans have been tasked by AI to prepare themselves for landing on hostile earth. The only issue is that there is 25 of them and only 18 seats on the lander.

One thing I liked about this book was the age of the protagonists. They did act with the naivety of 12-year-olds and you can see them begin to mature and grow. They also all had their interests and acted in a childish way that was realistic but not annoying which I liked.

This did however lead to the issue of their relationships. Although they are adults through time they're in the body of 12-year-olds and have not gone through puberty and also have been brainwashed into thinking they're 12. It just felt very off to me.

I did however like the way AI was represented and also the politics and the simulations. It all felt very realistic and the power dynamics are very clear. You'd have to read it to understand that better.

Overall I enjoyed this a lot. I liked the ending, I liked the philosophy and weirdly made me think.
