I enjoyed reading this book and it reminded me of Her Husband's Daughter in some ways.
Morgan and Chris are high school sweethearts who get married when Morgan discovers she is pregnant at 16. Morgan watches out for her sister Jenny who dates Chris' best friend Noah. A tragedy happens and Morgan and and her daughter Clara's life are turned upside down. Clara pulls away from her mother to deal with her grief and turn to Miller Adams, a classmate and someone her parents did not want her to be around. Will Morgan and Clara resolve their differences and be able to move forward together? What secrets will come out and which ones will stay forever unanswered?

This one definitely kept me engaged and wanting to read, even if it had me rolling my eyes at times.

Once again, Colleen Hoover delivered! This book had my emotions all over the place. I was angry, I was crying, I was laughing, I was sobbing. It was another beautiful story that only Colleen can produce.

Really liked the mother and daughter dual perspectives in this. The story about their relationship and overcoming grief while learning to understand each other was lovely but I really feel like two of the characters didn’t need to be quite as villainous as they were for this to have resonated. I just would’ve liked the chance to empathize with them a little more, but ultimately it felt like “character X is perfect and has never done anything wrong” and “character Y is soooo selfish wtf.” I still really enjoyed it though!!

this was different to any of hoovers other writing styles in my personal opinion. It goes through the different perspectives of mother and daughter through pain, love and general teenage angst. I really enjoyed this book, the end was emotional and it was a refreshing read that didn’t follow the same cliché CoHo always bases her plots around

This one was very hard for me. Esp as a listen as I wanted answers before they were given. Had I been reading the book I would have flipped forward, which I NEVER do just to easy my mind. But as I was listening I had to power through. I'm glad I did, but GAH that was a hard one.
I know others have said to let their teen daughters read this one and I agree. What one thinks is truth always has other meanings behind it.
I do wish for a more further epilogue or at least Morgan's version.
I CRIED at that #promposal. Like borderline #UGLYcry

I really enjoyed this storyline! It kept you wanting to know more and without guessing what was going to happen. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars in my book was that the ending felt a little bit rushed. You also don’t get to find out details of a large puzzle piece in the story. Otherwise, I loved it!

This book has been sitting in my to-be-read list for a couple of months now and I finally was in the mood to pick it up. I love Colleen Hoover's books. I 've been a fan of her since 2016 and this one is a little bit different from her previous works but it's equally as poignant as the others. If you haven't read this book yet, I'm just gonna warn you that there will be some minor spoilers up ahead. ✌
The book started out with Morgan's POV. I was immediately engrossed because I'm a sucker for high school romances. I did not expect that the next chapter would be a fast forward to the present - 17 years after chapter 1.
I was kind of mislead by the synopsis of this book. I was given the impression that Morgan and Clara had a bad mother-daughter relationship but the relationship they had, in the beginning, was okay. It just went downhill later on when Chris died, which I think was normal because both of them were grieving and they had different ways to cope up.
It was devastating to read in Morgan's POV knowing the truth and how she had to hide it to protect her daughter, and very frustrating reading in Clara's POV knowing that she got it wrong. Clara is the typical teenager who bursts out in spite and anger when something was not right by her. I can never really blame her for acting out though because she was grieving. Losing two loved ones at a very young age is very traumatic especially when they were your whole world. But I have to say that I found her a little bit annoying sometimes.
As I was reading through, I couldn't wait until Clara would find out about the whole truth so that she would finally understand what her mother was really going through. I had tears in the last chapters of the book. The relief I felt was overwhelming when Clara finally understood what was happening. I was thankful that Clara was wise enough to put the pieces together even though Morgan was hesitant to tell her the truth because I didn't want her to hate her mother.
Overall, the plot was not that extraordinary but how it was written and presented was excellent. I expect nothing less from CoHo because she really delivers every time. I love the characters, especially Miller. He was there for Clara through her ups and downs. I liked Morgan best, she was the strongest person in this book. Going through all those things would break a person but she kept going because she loves her daughter so much. What I really would have loved to know more is about Chris and Jenny. I badly wanted to read the contents of the letters but I understand that not knowing is a part of letting go. Morgan is a character I would look up to when it comes to making difficult decisions because I can never do the things she did if it was me in her position.
