I enjoyed the twists in this book, as it painted a picture not so different from my own life story. I found the generation switching in the first few chapters a little confusing but eventually settled into the story as it focused more on the present day.
SpoilerClara's perspective was a tad frustrating as she jumped her way from one ill-informed conclusion to the next, but I suppose that isn't an incorrect depiction of a teenager, albeit frustrating to read. I felt like the ultimate love story was revealed early on with a bit too much foreshadowing, which is not CoHo's usual style.

In general I really liked it this book and it has been playing around in my head for the last couple of days.

SpoilerSo disappointed that Morgan didn't read the bloody letters though!

SpoilerLet’s start with the positive. I enjoyed the dual POV, definitely preferring the mother’s perspective. I do think the novel did a good job of booking you from the beginning. But it was all downhill from there. I can’t get over the banter. At first it was so bad it was funny. Then it was just bad. The primary conflict was predictable but interesting, which is what I’ve come to expect out of Hoover. Miller and Clara were cute at first—cringey but cute. As they progressed though, they became just insufferable: High schoolers don’t talk like that. Most humans don’t talk to each other like that:

“I once heard someone say we’re all just one phone call away from our knees.”

Colleen Hoover does it again, folks! Though this story starts with a tragedy and progresses with heartbreak after heartbreak, you can’t help but love and cling to the moments of hope, warmth and peace that are sprinkled throughout for each of the characters. Hoover is one of the only authors who can make me physically feel the ache, anger, pure joy, selfless love, etc. that the characters in her books feel and Regretting You was no exception to that! Love her writing and loved this book.

3.5 stars, rounded up because the ending was simply perfect!

This was well-written, as most CoHo books are, but I couldn’t get past all of the non-communication/miscommunication issues enough to love it.

The characters are very likeable, however; I was invested in Clara and Miller’s love story. This read as a quick and easy YA book. Pick it up if that’s what you’re in the mood for!

-loved the plot twists
-frustrating that morgan wasn’t communicating to clara, about the true details of chris and jennys car accident and why they were together
-loved jonah and morgan together and how they both felt around each other
-loved that jonah still cared and loved elijah when it wasn’t biologically his kid
-clara and miller were cute, millers promposal was super cute and very romantic
-clara’s best friend wasn’t involved in the story as much as i would’ve hoped but they wrote her off as “working all of the time”
-seemed unnecessary for her best friend to get with efren halfway through the book just because we don’t know much about those characters and we barely hear abt them after that
-jonah and morgan’s sex scene…

The characters are one dimensional, and almost all plot lines can be seen several chapters before they are explicitly revealed. Due to the characters' lack of dimension, it was hard to root for any of them since their "true passions" were overshadowed by relationships built on little foundation. Works well for a light read since keeping up with the story doesn't require too much concentration.
