I loved this read! Two decidedly different sisters , small town Vermont, a mystery/twist, and love. It has everything that gives me a comfy, cozy read and those feel good vibes. A Hallmark movie in book form. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sweet , small town stories.

My first Modern Mrs Darcy Book Club read. Looking forward to hearing this author speak about the book. Thought it was ironic that the book I read before this one also had two sisters as main characters. Those sisters as these ( Kit and Nora) had very different personalities and also butted heads at times.

This story is really Nora’s coming of age/finding her life purpose story. I enjoyed the characters of the town, Guthrie. I felt like I could envision the setting, houses and visualize the people of this book due to the author’s writing. However, I also appreciated that the author didn’t become overly flowery or drawn out in her descriptors.

An easy realistic fiction read.

Louise Miller’s stories of Guthrie are sweet and complicated, dealing with family, community, and love.

The story itself was... okay. It felt like reading a dumb Hallmark movie: small town, nice people, cutesy diner, romance, etc. It was even pleasant at times. Nothing memorable or mind-blowing.

Had to subtract some points because of how much I hated Kit. She was immature, selfish, bratty, entitled, and had her head so far up her ass that she never thought about things that responsible people have to think about. She was an absolute nightmare of a person and the author wanted to paint her as this magical fairy. I wanted to slap her across the face.

This had a bit of a Stars Hallow feel.

I loved the sense of belonging that Nora felt for her small Vermont town, Guthrie. Nora runs the local diner, after taking care of her late mother, late father, and her younger sister. Putting aside her art for the practical realities, Nora is in some financial trouble after inheriting land that is mired in back taxes. A large company wants to buy the land, which would solve Nora’s and her sister Kate’s problems, but Guthrie would be the loser. Wonderful lovable characters, plus a story that will stay in your heart, I recommend for anyone looking for a heartwarming read.

I listened to this and found it charming and maybe a bit Hallmark Movieish. It made me want to move to Vermont!
