As a little kid, my mom used to read this to me. I will never ever forget this book. I can't wait to read it to my kids!

Oh, how I love this sweet book, and it still makes me tear up every single time I read it.

We got three copies of this book when Number One Son was born, from other parents who loved it. "YOU WILL CRY. IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL."

I hate this book. It's maudlin and sad and creepy.

It's a very moving book. The first time I read it I cried like a little kid. Then I read it to my husband and then my mom, and each time I cried terribly. My husband also got teary. Now whenever I read it I still get emotional and can barely finish. My baby is only 4 months old so he cannot understand any of it, but even if he's older, I doubt how much he'll appreciate it. I think it's probably more for adults than for kids. Even so, I still love the book, and I sing the song every day to my baby: I'll love you forever; I'll like you for always; As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.

Ah, one of the most polarizing children's books. You either find this a heart-warming tale of enduring parental devotion or a deeply creepy story of a parent failing to allow a child to grow. And I'm firmly in the latter camp.

My child will always be my baby but I don't need to climb through her window when she's left home and rock her when she's asleep (!) even metaphorically to hold onto that sentiment.

I'll be glad when it's time for this one to go back to the library.
