It's a very moving book. The first time I read it I cried like a little kid. Then I read it to my husband and then my mom, and each time I cried terribly. My husband also got teary. Now whenever I read it I still get emotional and can barely finish. My baby is only 4 months old so he cannot understand any of it, but even if he's older, I doubt how much he'll appreciate it. I think it's probably more for adults than for kids. Even so, I still love the book, and I sing the song every day to my baby: I'll love you forever; I'll like you for always; As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.
