This book is really different than the first one. There is no insta-lust but the slowest burn ever. Although I usually don’t read a lot of slow burns, I enjoyed the pace and how the story was told. Lizzie’s battle with her demons was intense and seeing things from Saber’s perspective without her knowing gives the story more depth. At the end, you never know where other person is going through so it’s best not to judge. They were meant to be, and I’m really happy for their HEA.

I'm not the biggest slow burn lover but there were definitely moments where I was DYING but in a good way. I did not read the first book in this standalone series but other than a few moments with another side character, it isn't really necessary to read the book one first.
Lizzie had a lot of inner growth throughout the story, which was so great to read.
Saber's POV were from him growing up and watching what he went through and how it affected him and the things he had to do in order to grow to reach where he is in present time.
The story itself was great, the plot was on point. I felt so many different emotions reading this story.
If extra slow burns are your favorite, this book is for you. If you want your characters to be together by the halfway mark, this may not be for you.

Garnet Christie did amazing with her debut book and first of this series, but this one is even better, if it’s possible. If you’re a lover of slow burn, this one will have you hanging on to every bit Garnet gives us because it takes a WHILE. But it’s not boring--it’s all very satisfying and appropriate. For anyone going, ugh, slow burns, well stick with me for a moment. Saber and Eliza are everything. There’s a reason it’s a slow burn because there is some hardcore hate between these two (well… Actually, I won’t give it away). So it’s all very tasteful and there’s a reason why it’s so slow, but again SO satisfying and I LOVE Saber. He’s everything I love in a male main character therefore he’s mine.

Garnet did awesome with this installment and I look forward to what other romances she’s bringing next!

Also, can we talk about this cover!?

I received this book as an AdvancedReader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this love story. I really felt the main characters feeling along with her and the story is peppered with Saber’s POV so that gives you a small glimpse of what king of person he is. I liked Christie’s book Last but this story was more my speed with a slow burn love that hits a passionate peak at the end.

I am a huge fan of Garnet Christie, that is no surprise as several of her books have gotten five stars from me, and this one is no exception, except that it's exceptional. For the first time in my reading life, I annotated parts of a book that I was reading for fun, because the writing is so good.

"I wonder how a soul so young can be so tainted by hate."
"She can be happy with me because she's never been tethered to my despair."
"It only provides us with inadequate ways to cope with things, and we're left to piece together the rest any way we can."

Garnet writes imperfect characters and she does an amazing job at that. I think the incredible thing with Lizzie and Saber is she makes you perceive them in a certain light. Lizzie perceives Saber as a monster, as someone incapable of goodness, while Saber perceives Lizzie as his flower, a savior in his darkest moments. But as you read along, you find that Lizzie has thorns. Parts of her needed to be cut off so she could grow into something more, something healthier and better, and no matter how many people she had around her, Saber was the only one who could help her with that. Saber was cut throat, and that's what she needed over the understanding and gentleness of her friends.

On the other hand Saber needed someone to fight him and fight for him. He really never had that, and to see Lizzie grow that strength, and go after something she wants so vigorously, was incredible. It was also beautiful seeing Saber's kindness, and just how much this person, who was treated so harshly, could love and the strength of that love.

Stay is the second book in the Copperslane series and it's the story between Eliza and Saber. Eliza and Saber went to school together but never once spoke to each other, though they both felt a pull towards the other, even as children. Eliza lost her parents as a teen and has been struggling since. Saber has his own dark past, including a piece that's entangled in Eliza's causing a lot of resentment and hated on her end. When she's desperate for work and he swoops in to the save the day, they have no choice but to work through their complicated emotions for each other.

This was a really good read. I loved Saber and the duality of his strict composure and control and then his sweet, caring side that he displayed for his loved ones. The dialogue was a little awkward in some parts and Eliza was very frustrating at times with her self-centeredness and lack of forgiveness but overall, I recommend giving this a read.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to start this review by saying this book is one of my favorite books I've read in several years. It normally takes me up to a month these days to get a book read, this book me just a few days. Which for me, is considered a binge read.

I laughed, cried, giggled, blushed as red as a tomato. I could not get enough. Not only are the characters well written, but the plot is absolutely stunning. Raw, emotional, passionate. I love this book.
