Alien bats! Vampires! Space faeries! Honeybee shifters!

These are just some of the crazy paranormal and sci-fi characters who feature in this new series of Patricia Logan. As usual, and what I enjoy with Logan’s books is a series that revolves around the same couple so we get to see them deepen their connection as they continue to kick bad guy butt out in the field! Aristotle (Ari) Brown is a familiar face - we were introduced to him in the FBI Files series - and he has transferred from Kentucky to LA and been introduced to a world he had no idea existed before his first day with the ISR.

There is a LOT going on in this book as Logan sets the stage which left me a little whiplashed at times. I feel the book could have done with less or been longer so I had more time to get acquainted with this world. It definitely interested me however and I will be jumping into the next one to enjoy the journey Logan is going to take us on. I love how this carefully concealed paranormal world is set alongside Logan’s other series. I would freak out so badly if Jarrett and Thayne were introduced to the knowledge of all the craziness happening around them they have absolutely zero idea about. I can only imagine what new wild things Jarrett would get himself into.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

It was a good story. The whole story takes place during a few days. The world building is top notch. I like stories set in modern times with a few fantasy/sci-fi differences.
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.

This is the first in a new series, paranormal law enforcement, new partner/co-workers. Eoghan has been a US Marshal in the I.S.R. for a while but without a partner since his last one passed away. His boss assigns him a new one, also a US Marshal but from the 'civilian' branch and they're thrown right into the thick of things on his very first day in the job.

Ari is new to Los Angeles, new to the paranormal world and it's a baptism of fire for him. There's an instant spark between him and Eoghan, although it's a slow build to when they do actually get together. I liked the world building, and the build of the relationship between the two, it felt natural and I liked they were building a friendship/partnership too before becoming romantically involved. There's a lot going on in this story, and I think a lot more to come, there were more than one threads left dangling at the end, and I'd love to see how these are resolved.

For the first in a series, it sets things out well, with one or two surprises along the way and I can't wait for more from this world.

A US Marshal transfers from his office in Lexington Kentucky to another office in California. When he arrives he is met I. The parking lot by his new boss and new partner and gets a strange and vague partial tour. Then they meet in the Chief’s office and Ari finds out he’s transferred to an office charged with doing the Marshal’s job, but for supernatural beings and aliens. His new partner, Eoghan, has been working solo which is not allowed and driving off new partners since his long time partner died the year before. This new partner is his last chance.

As the new partners navigate some interesting call outs and get a sense of each other we learn about this world which differs quite a bit from existing PNR/Fantasy mythology. It’s an interesting premise and I’ve got to say, it’s entirely believable to me that our government would have secret agencies to deal with “others.” It’s kind of a Men in Black premise where citizen encounters with “others” are “cleansed.”

The growth of the relationship is sweet in a “we really shouldn’t do this, oh yup we’re gonna do this” way. It seems to an overarching story that’s going to stretch through the series while a series of shorter encounters in each book tell us more about this world.

It was a fun read but I still don’t feel like I really know the MCs yet. Hopefully that will I,prove with book two.

An amazing read from this author. This author is a have to get on all books. I loved Ari and Eoghan’s story and can't wait for more in this series. They have a soulmate type of relationship going on. They read each other so well. I received an ARC of this story and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
