There were sections that I couldn’t put the book down! But then, there were sections where I had to force myself to keep reading. Overall it was a great story about embracing every part of yourself, which is a story that should never get old.

Buddy read with the dear Massiel!!
I’m honestly not sure what to think. On one hand, this book had lovely writing and imagery, and I’m sure the author is a very talented writer. On the other.... I just really couldn’t connect to these characters. Or the romance. Or the storyline at all.
This started off well, it really did. I loved the idea of a girl with poison in her veins, which is why I kind of hated it when. Our MC just got really boring and pretty annoying after the previously mentioned situation, and I hated how dumb she was - and I don’t mean academically, I mean common sense wise. I mean, it was so obvious that the evil dude was, well, evil! He was totally sus and I didn’t love it.
I also didn’t really feel any chemistry between either of the couples. I liked that Soraya was bi, but her and Parvaneh were just kind of boring together, and I felt nothing.
All up, this was pretty disappointing, but I still love the cover and the Persian mythology and fairytale-like writing technique! Thank you to my girl Massiel for BR-ing this with me, and to the angel Ash for sending the book to me

she easily destroyed the fire and removed the poison from her body. It basically made her super boring to me.I also didn’t really feel any chemistry between either of the couples. I liked that Soraya was bi, but her and Parvaneh were just kind of boring together, and I felt nothing.

When this book started, I was a little bit concerned I was not going to end up liking it. I was worried that there would be some very tropey similarities to other books I had read. Thankfully though this book teases at those tropes and then takes a complete left turn from what I was expecting. The land and folklore were so rich and interesting as well. What really pulled me in though was main protagonist Soraya. She was everything I wanted in a protagonist for a story like this.
My only issue I had is that I felt the feelings towards other characters happened a bit suddenly, especially one character in particular.

Did realize this was Young adult. It was good for that age range though.
