Heir Of The Beast by F.R. Black
4.0
Well, this was a fun book! It was a great twist on fairytale retelling! I really liked Viola she was fiesty, funny and you couldn't help but cheer her on! I also really liked all the side characters, especially Mort! I did guess some of the twists, but it was more of a yes I was right rather than oh that was predictable!
The tension between Viola and Apollo was chef kiss!
This was a great fun read perfect for fans of fairytales, fab characters, HEAs, and if you're after a fun, easy read! I'll most definitely be checking out the other books in the series, especially as book 2 is giving major hunger games vibes!

Friends of Dorothy by Sandi Toksvig
4.0
I love Sandy Toksvig, so I couldn't pass up on this tour, and I wasn't disappointed! It had what it promised laughs, found family (or logical not biological!), but also had so much more! I admit it was a bit confusing/annoying at first why Dorothy wasn't leaving, but this soon became clear, and as the book goes on, you really start to care for her just as Stevie and Amber did! I would say this is the perfect feel-good book, but there are moments where, just like in real life, there is transphobia and Homophobia but there is also community rallying round and logical families being formed.
Although it was hard to read at times, I enjoyed it, and really liked all the characters and would recommend it

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

So I'm probably about 15 years behind on this one, but when I saw it was being made into a film, I decided it was about time!
I love a dystopian book, and while this wasn't my favourite, I enjoyed it! It had great characters and world building, and I thought it was a great concept!
I'm intrigued to see what happens next and will be diving into book two soon!

The Velvet Hammer: Judge Belvin Perry, Jr.'s Capital Murder Cases and Memoir by Amy Mitchell, Belvin Perry
3.75
As someone with an interest in true crime, I found this book really engaging. Part memior, part true crime it gave a glimps it to Chief Judge Perry's background from who he grew up, life as a prosecutor before finally becoming a judge as well a glimpse into case he both prosecuted and procided over as well as information about how the justice system works in Florida. I found it informative, and it had both cases I had heard of before, such as the Casey Anthony Case, which was the main focus of the last half of the book and others new to me. I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in true crime and the justice system, but please do proceed with Caution as there are some quite graphic and disturbing crimes covered in this book

As I've already said, I'm absolutely loving this series, and this book wow! Again, I absolutely love the characters and had me laughing the whole way through, but boy, this book also broke me! It was so emotional that it had me balling my eyes out for hours!
Though I will say this is the first time I guessed who done it and why, but maybe Richard, put all his effort into breaking everyone's hearts instead!?
I know Richard has taken a bit of a break, and I'll have to wait for next year for the next book, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait, and I can't wait to read his new series!
This series has earned its place as one of my all time favourites!

So this wasn't quite what I was expecting, but overall, I enjoyed it! I love a dystopian book and also love a bit of spice, though I think I would have liked to see a bit more of the dystopian story side as I found it a really interesting concept. I really liked all the characters and would definitely recommend checking this out if you're a fan of spice/dystopian, though it is quite dark at times so please do check content warnings before you dive in!
