The Velvet Hammer: Judge Belvin Perry, Jr.'s Capital Murder Cases and Memoir by Amy Mitchell, Belvin Perry

3.75

As someone with an interest in true crime, I found this book really engaging. Part memior, part true crime it gave a glimps it to Chief Judge Perry's background from who he grew up, life as a prosecutor before finally becoming a judge as well a glimpse into case he both prosecuted and procided over as well as information about how the justice system works in Florida. I found it informative, and it had both cases I had heard of before, such as the Casey Anthony Case, which was the main focus of the last half of the book and others new to me. I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in true crime and the justice system, but please do proceed with Caution as there are some quite graphic and disturbing crimes covered in this book
