I loved this TV Series and was excited to see what this graphic novel was like, it's a prequel which reveals the events that led Vanessa to try and find her missing childhood friend, Mina Harker, and exposes the true nature of the vampires infesting Victorian London.

There's very little dialogue in this.

I read it in like 20 minutes, it's so short and not well thought out.

I've given it two stars because of the illustrations and well..Eva Green.. :P

"In the old house, the past hung in the air like motes of dust waiting to be illuminated by the sharp rays of memory."

Charlie Parker, almost a year after the murder of his family, is trying to find peace. He has returned to Maine where he spent his youth and has moved into his Grandfathers old house in Scarborough with the intention of doing it up. Unfortunately he doesn't get very much done as before long he is drawn into the hunt for the killer of another mother and child. The obvious suspect is the woman's violent estranged husband.

But there is another possibility - his grandfather (a policeman) was haunted by a shocking series of unsolved murders in the area, the perpetrator was meant to be the monster known as Caleb Kyle. As the decades past Kyle sank into the mythology of Dark Hollow only to be resurrected by tired mothers as the bogey man used to scare errant children. "Caleb Kyle, Caleb Kyle, when you see him run a mile"

Far to the north an elderly lady, from a nursing home, is found wandering in the snowy woods saying she has seen Caleb Kyle...

The follow-up to the first book in the Charlie Parker series was absolutely brilliant, i'm loving these characters and can't wait to get the third book; Mr. Connolly you're a damn fine author!

Okay I'm on page 284 of 449 and STILL I'm not into it, the writing style isn't my kind of thing and the whole plot has went over my head; I've no idea what's going on and I'm bored out of my goddamn mind!

I've no idea why this book has such high ratings and won a Hugo.

I tried, now f*ck this shit, I'm out!

"On the black moors of northern England in the shadow of an modern missile base, a band of Druids enact their pagan rites… Rites which unleash a nightmare vision of two unspeakable horrors – ancient supernatural evil and nuclear catastrophe…..."

Moonwell, a town in England's Peak District, gets it's name from a cave that dominates the surrounding moor. Every Midsummer Eve the townspeople, following ancient Druid Customs, decorate the cave with designs.

A Christian evangelist, Godwin Mann, has come to Moonwell to put a stop to the paganism.

When Mann descends into the cave to stamp out the pagan forces that lurk there, he encounters instead an evil being of tremendous power which invades his body and soul, changing him into a humanoid with "long spindly arms and reptilian eyes."

Meanwhile, darkness covers the town, the phones go dead and the town is cut of from the outside world.

Now that he monster is free it intends to wreak revenge by detonating nuclear missiles stationed nearby.......

Started off really good, halfway through I thought I was going to DNF it because it's a rather bloated novel, it could have done with better editing.

I'm glad I stuck with it though because after the halfway mark, it got pretty good and I liked the ending and the overall Lovecraftian writing style Campbell uses here.

It would have made a five star short story, but because it's a novel which should have been cut down from 428 pages to 328 pages - I've given it three stars.

Fans of eerie, occult horror stories should give this a go!

"Those who do not learn the lessons of the past are condemned to repeat it."

This one is about a bunch people who, while traveling along 'Lonely' Highway 50 in Nevada, get tricked and abducted by a huge 6'7" town deputy who is clearly absolutely insane and get taken to the mining town of Desperation and thrown into cells.....

It's a good verus evil story which I absolutely loved, I just couldn't put it down, when I had to go and do something I was always looking forward to getting straight back to it - it's one of those addictive reads.

I've read most of Stephen King's books and he's still blowing my mind, I've put Desperation off for years and now that I've finally read it - it's one of the best one I've read for years!

Must read!! Tak!

This one was a short, strange and quirky read.

Took me three days to read it though because my last read made me slumpy!!

It tells the story of Tsukiko who is a single woman in her 30s who one day meets one of her old teachers and develops a relationship with him.

Isn't like your usual love story, due to the age difference between them, also their meetings appear to take place by chance.

I'll leave it there.

I liked it, there isn't much of a plot going on though but the characterization is very good and they were likeable characters at that!

People who are old enough to remember 50s horror comics such Black Magic etc - this will be pure nostalgia for you. Or if you're into vintage horror, you'll dig it.

I liked it and it was different to what I usually read, I just wish it was more..gorey lol.

I found the stories Twilight Zone-ish, very short with the suggestion of the supernatural.

There’s little blood or violence like I said, instead they rely on creepiness and implication.

Must read for VINTAGE HORROR fans!

“Is there any good news?'' Tesla said.
Who ever promised that? Who ever said there'd be good news?”

Well I've news for you, I didn't particularly like this book; this is the kind of book that throws me into a slump.

The start of it was full of promise, but after that it got too dense, the characters became forgetful and it just didn't make a lick of sense to me - I just got lost and didn't have a clue what was happening.

I've been a Barker fan for half my life and this is my least favourite of his by far.

Barker has said in interviews that this novel was the hardest to write of all his books, I can appreciate this, he never gave up and I suppose there's loads of people out there who see this as a masterpiece; i can appreciate that too - but this one just isn't for me.

I thought it was hard enough getting my head around Imajica but this one is just too much - that is all!

I'm looking forward to my next Barker read though, always!!

The book is about a chef named Katie who used to own a well known restaurant called Seconds.

She's trying to start a new restaurant after leaving her first one in capable hands, but it is proving to be more difficult than she could have imagined.

Upon trying to progress her career and reach more success she comes across trying times when her relationship with some of the previous restaurant staff goes bad and she finds out that she really isn't happy with her life choices.

There may be a way out, or so Katie thought when she came across some magic mushrooms she found in her dresser drawer.

Things change for Katie, some good and some terrible.

I really liked this, it was very well paced, plot-driven, dark and mysterious.

Usually when I finish a graphic novel, it's rare for me to think I'd read it again; but I'd re-read this again some day because it was a pleasure.

One talks to the dead. The other heals the living. Both must make the…Mystery Walk!

The main character here is Billy Creekmore who is of Choctaw Indian heritage with a psychic ability, he can see and speak with the dead.

The there's Wayne Falconer who is the son of a evangelist. Who travels with his father to preach at revivals. He has healing powers, but there is more to Wayne than meets the eye.

I'll just leave it there...

I liked this book, the characters and the dialogue were excellent - some were loveable and some I just wanted to throat punch!

It's real page turner, the plot is well paced and original.

I'd recommend to fans of Stephen King.
