This was a nook freebie that I enjoyed reading, but found a bit predictable. I didn't think Sam's character was very well developed. I never could understand why she would want someone she loved to be married to such a cheating, narcissistic man. At any rate, it was a quick read that played out sort of like an episode of Miami Vice.

I liked this book, even though some things were a bit far-fetched, in my opinion. I also thought Lutie's character was not very well-developed. It was a fast read and fun to find out what ended up happening to the kids.
My favorite part of the book was the description of the circus coming into town for the seasonal break. It reminded me of Water for Elephants.

I enjoyed this book. Many have called this book a grown-up version of Twilight. The book is full of witches, vampires and demons, spells, magic and time travel. I assume there will be a sequel and look forward to reading the next one. Otherwise, I would say I wasn't that thrilled with the way it ended. I liked the genealogy/DNA aspects of the story. Very interesting to see who's connected to who and how the supernatural powers are passed down. I also LOVED the witches house!

I think Michael Munroe is superwoman. I can't believe how she manages to get out of the worst situations in one piece! This book was a fast read and I love how it kept me guessing about a few things that were going on.

What an adventure! This book reminded me a bit of one of the "Pirates of the Carribbean" movies. Very different setting than what I expected. I loved the ending!

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction! Catherine was a woman full of surprises and was definitely one of the most "liberated" women of her era.
This was a long book and at times, I grew weary of reading about Russian politics and economics, but I loved reading about how Catherine came to power and ruled over Russia. This may have held more interest for me if I had been more knowledgeable of Russian history before I started the book. There are many names and titles to keep up with. I wish the author had written it more chronolgically. At times, I felt he skipped around in history and that made it somewhat hard to keep up with.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the setting of New York in the late 1930's. I think this one would be fun to read again now that I know the ending.
