Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
1.0
Forced to read this book for a class when I was a freshman in university. I wanted to cry every time I had to sit down to read it, and almost bawled when I had to write a paper about it. Wasn't my type of book. It's been almost 10 years, and I still don't know what I had read. I don't know how I got through it.
José Rizal: Life, Works, and Writings of a Genius, Writer, Scientist, and National Hero by Sonia M. Zaide, Gregorio F. Zaide

Took a Rizal summer class at uni, and it was a very interesting summer indeed.
I knew Rizal was a remarkable fellow, but I was not prepared for all the incredible things he did throughout his lifetime. This book was a very good read, and I regret not bringing it with me to the US.

Exposing Harry Potter and Witchcraft: The Menace Beneath the Magic by Steve Wohlberg

I was 17 when I read this, and quite impressionable then. But still, even without my philosophy and logic classes at the time, I knew this book was full of fallacies and manipulation that thrived on making Harry Potter a work of the devil.
I wish I still had a copy of this waste of money because I would gladly highlight the numerous passages that screamed red herring, non sequitur, plain old "that has nothing to do with Harry Potter!", and more.
This is beyond Christianity. This is just plain dumb and exploiting Christianity.

Lots More Tell Me Why by Arkady Leokum

My mom got me this book, along with Calvis & Hobbes Lazy Sunday, during a trip to the bookstore. I love her so much for getting this for me because this had been informative. Back in the days before I knew the Internet and Google existed, this was my pasttime.
Because of this book, I know what Esperanto is, and that St. Elmo's fire isn't a supernatural phenomenon based on Filipino horror stories.

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Allegiant is very different from Divergent, which is why I am on the fence with this book. Took me longer to finish (almost 24 hours).
I was not expecting that ending, and it left me misty-eyed and heavy. It's very depressing. I am glad that I did not read any spoilers, which is an amazing feat for me. If I had, I would not have had the strength to finish the series. This is the kind of book that you will want to read with no expectations, just taking it in word for word. Let the chapters surprise you...and depress you.

The Temptress by Jude Deveraux
3.0
When I was a little fourteen-year-old in high school, one of my classmates showed me the collection of Jude Deveraux novels in the library. Why books like these are available to teenagers in a Catholic school is beyond me, but I borrowed them one by one. This book, The Temptress, is the only one that I can remember reading. Maybe it is the heartfelt adventures of Christian and Tynan that stood out to me, or the love scenes were especially steamy. I don't know. But I liked this book the best--obviously, since I cannot for the life of me remember all the others.
