*Spoilers ahead* Honestly I’d buy this book to read it again. It was something about an established couple who truly loved each other but when they came to crossroads finally looked at each other and asked what they were doing. And on Nicole’s side to recognize that she had changed from 14 years ago and that she did want a baby. That although she loved Supreme with all her heart, she had love in her heart for a baby. For her to tell him that although he loved her, the way he shut down when it came to his father, the topic of children came up, or having relationships outside of his brother and wife. I liked that Honey respected herself and him enough to say she wanted more and that she couldn’t live with settling. And that she didn’t want give him one just because she wanted one but also because he did too. And that if he couldn’t it would be best if they divorced.
Their separation although difficult was healing. It forced Supreme to deal with his past and his wounds with his parents. He took a snapshot of his life and worked to better himself in hopes he could make his way back home and to Nicole. The talk he finally had with his father had me so happy for him and had me teary. The fact that his father stayed away from them after he got out of his prison because he felt guilty made me feel bad. But I loved how he continued loving Preme and was just waiting on him to let him in.
My favorite was at the vow renewal when Nicole revealed she was pregnant and how happy they both were!
Okay I had a good time with Mr Librarian and Ms Restoration. I didn’t even realize exactly how the book was going to go in regards to both their pasts but I loved it. I was so proud of Honey for working through her fears of her past and letting love in again. I loved how she stood up for her mom in her father’s face even when her mom wasn’t supportive about that. I loved how she looked after her sisters and tried to get them out of the house when her parents were suffering.
And Khalil, damn I felt for him and how he had lost his father and grandfather. I loved how he loved Honey and how he made sure to love her gently as she got used to him. How he made sure she was already okay, how he anticipated her needs and was just everything she didn’t know she wanted. I wish we knew more about the librarian business. It was explained but I needed a bit more. I also wish we saw more of Honey’s best friend.
I still don’t like Honey’s father. Like how disrespectful can you be to your kids. People who punish kids because of their parent don’t make a lick of sense to me. Y’all chose to stay in the relationship and you get mad that your daughter rightfully calls you out for disrespecting her mother? Miss me with that bs!! I was glad they finally divorced and hopefully Honey and her dad’s relationship got better.
Friends to lovers will remain my favorite romance trope. There were a few things that bothered me about the book but ultimately I really enjoyed it. I admired Remedy and felt for her with what she went through in her previous relationship with Nigel and his family. How she realized that although he loved her, she’d always be second and that she loved herself enough to walk away which honestly was good with the mess his mama and daddy were trying to put on them. I still wanna slap his daddy. I loved how even though she felt the attraction with Sea when they first met, she knew she had hurts to work through and heal and so a beautiful friendship between them formed.
I was sad we didn’t get to see much of Sea’s previous relationship. It felt like it was a tidbit added in there although I did like when he went talk to Yasmin. He also had hurts to work through before he let Remedy know he was through just being friends and wanted more for them.
What I enjoyed most about them was their williness to talk and not let the other hide. It was more so Sea letting Rem know he was there for her and that he wasn’t Nigel.
One thing that did put me off a bit was at times when the story had moved weeks or months along and we didn’t know right away. It threw me off a bit and made me wonder if I missed a chapter but I did get back into the book.
I was also a fan of both their families. I felt so much love for Sea’s older sister, Emerald, who had to mother her 3 siblings after their mother left and never looked back. That got to me. Overall, I enjoyed this one!
