Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry
5.0
I’ve always loved Matthew Perry. I knew he had battled with drug use in the past, but it wasn’t until I listened to this book that I realized just how bad it was. This book made me tear up so much. Not only because you get to hear his voice again, but you realize just how sad he was throughout his career. We think that celebrities have it all, but he’s proof that even with it all you can still be very sad in life. He seemed to live such a lonely life, even when he was with someone.
I suggest anyone going through depression or addiction to check out this book.

Harry Potter: Crochet Wizardry by Lee Sartori

When I started learning how to crochet, my husband picked this book up for me. Of course at the time I did not know how to read a pattern, so I couldn’t use it. Within months I was able to. The patterns are very easy to understand. I also love that it gives you the brands and color of the yarn that they used so that you could make yours as close to the photo as possible. My favorite pattern is the golden snitch baby blanket. I still have a few patterns that I have not made as of yet in this book. I cannot wait to make more.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling

So far this has been my least favorite book in the series. A friend warned me about it when I got the set of books. Harry is so annoying throughout this book. And he seems to get worse til the end. I’m guessing it has something to do with his connection to Voldemort, but he’s constantly rude to people. His friends, but worse when he yells at Dumbledore and Hagrid! If it’s his connection to Voldemort, then it should have been a back and forth between good Harry and bad Harry. I did love how I got so many answers about why Dumbledore took Harry to his aunt and uncle’s home though. It was not a horrible book, Harry was just horrible.
The Stars Are Dying by Chloe C. Peñaranda

I almost DNF’d this series around chapter 9. But I try to read at least 10 chapters before I give up on a book. I’m glad that I didn’t. Though some did not leave a good review, I feel like it was a little better than what I’ve read of the reviews. It does have more of a YA feeling to it. So maybe that is why. Don’t give up on this book. I’m sure the next one will be better.

The Loss of the Burying Ground by J. Anderson Coats

This was a great story. I loved the dual point of view of Cora and Vivienne.
I am always obsessed with anything dealing with the sea. And the fact that this starts pretty much with a shipwreck and it’s a historical era of a story, had me intrigued. You get to watch these two go through survival for most of the book.
A wonderful YA book that I encourage not only the young, but even adults to check out.
I also want to mention how beautiful the cover is. Once it arrived I instantly said “Wow!”

Cross My Heart by Megan Collins

Rosie is addicted to love, or maybe falling in love. She falls pretty fast and easily. And loving with all her heart?! Well this book takes that on a new level. Because she receives a new heart with a heart transplant.
Afterwards, she decides to reach out to the family of the donor on a donor’s site to connect people with their donor or donor’s family. That’s where she meets Morgan, her donor’s husband. His wife was killed in a tragic accident.
As they keep talking they seem to get closer and closer. Rosie, of course, is starting to fall fast.
Is Morgan attracted to Rosie or the thought of his wife’s heart in her? Is Rosie actually attracted to Morgan or is his wife’s heart causing her to feel that way?
This was such a great book that you really don’t want to put down! Wonderful job to the author!
I won this arc copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. No one influenced my review.

I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast Is Me by Jamison Shea

If you enjoyed the movie Black Swan, then you’ll enjoy this! It has a much darker look and twists to it. And you will see some of the tough things someone goes through with being a ballerina without the perfect ideal life growing up and currently as well.
Lauren is an up and coming ballerina. She goes to a very tough Parisian ballet school. And just like in Black Swan, these girls are very competitive. She tends to have a tougher break than most all because she’s not white like most of the girls, nor did she grow up in the wealthy lifestyle that they did. The judges seem to lean more towards the privileged girls.
Lauren is her toughest critic. She is really doing this alone. She doesn’t have the finances that the other girls have, and her family couldn’t care less about what she’s doing. On top of the race issue, she has to work harder than the other girls. And she does. She’s a perfectionist. And she wants to be seen. She finally gets her dream role, but she’s still so hard on herself and even seems like she doesn’t believe she deserves it.
Then she meets the couple, Josephine and Ciro. They seem to have a great and successful life. They have it all. So this draws her to them. People talk about how they got there. Suggesting they do rituals and magic and drink blood and do spells. Because, no one like them should be successful in their eyes. This causes them to think the same for Lauren, since she isn’t white nor rich and doesn’t have family supporting her career.
The twist though is that most of the rumors about the couple seem to be right as Lauren gets to know them better. And the story really gets crazy then! I highly suggest this series! I read this book when I won a copy of the second book. So I had to get the kindle copy of this one to read first. Now I’m hooked!
