The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

I was so pleasantly surprised by The Lovely Bones. I've heard lots about it and saw snippets of the movie long ago but the book had sat on my shelf for a while. I saw other reviewers in the community say how much of a let down it was for them and I was nervous to feel the same way. The Lovely Bones is an instant favourite of mine. It is an absolutely beautiful, emotional, and important story that deals with unexpected and tragic deaths and the tarnish that is left behind. Not only do we witness Susie deal with her murder, but from her heaven we are able to watch as her family must learn to adapt and grow without her. This story is raw and grips at your heart and I found myself crying multiple times. I became very connected to Susie and her friends and family and I believe this is such an important story to be told. An instant favourite.

* 4.5 Stars.

Wow is all I can say about this one. I definitely appreciated the story line of "Dark Places" more than I enjoyed "Sharp Objects".

I truly felt connected to Libby, Ben, and Patty while reading their perspectives, I guess Flynn is great at that. I didn't want this book to end, and I genuinely appreciate the way this story ended. No loose ends, (most) questions answered, and a feeling of satisfaction for our characters.

I would definitely recommend this one to everyone I know.

I truly liked this book! Flynn is quite the captivating writer who knows how to shock you in the end. And wow, I cannot believe that ending!

*3.5 stars! Really enjoyed the beginning, I to the middle where there seemed to be a lot of twists but wasn't a fan of the ending chapters at all. Otherwise a great, suspenseful read with likeable characters!

Much closer to a 4.5!! Reading a murder mystery backwards was hard to get into at first but the further I got in, the easier the pieces connected! Finished this in 24 hours, couldn't put it down!

I really don't even know what to say I was hoping that the reviews I read weren't true but this just didn't deliver at all for me. And that ending?? I'm so angry.

WHAT DID I THINK GOODREADS?! I THINK that Erika Johansen has taken my heart out of my chest and thrown it out the window. I Can't!!!!!! I Can't!!!!!!!

The world building is absolutely unbelievable. There is so much detail and that causes the story to slow down a bit but I think it's necessary to understand the complexity of the world and it's lands.

The characters are crazy like I cared about every single one of them. They all have a purpose and there's no chapters that you're rushing yourself through because it all connects. I was pleasantly surprised by a few characters this book around - Kelsea, Mace, and Pen!!!!!!!! Please protect Pen in the last book.

To think these books sat on my shelf for so long because I was intimidated should be a crime they are so wonderful.

This series is absolutely mind blowing. I really can't wait to pick up the last one and find out how it ends. 😍
