The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
5.0
I was so pleasantly surprised by The Lovely Bones. I've heard lots about it and saw snippets of the movie long ago but the book had sat on my shelf for a while. I saw other reviewers in the community say how much of a let down it was for them and I was nervous to feel the same way. The Lovely Bones is an instant favourite of mine. It is an absolutely beautiful, emotional, and important story that deals with unexpected and tragic deaths and the tarnish that is left behind. Not only do we witness Susie deal with her murder, but from her heaven we are able to watch as her family must learn to adapt and grow without her. This story is raw and grips at your heart and I found myself crying multiple times. I became very connected to Susie and her friends and family and I believe this is such an important story to be told. An instant favourite.
