A high school sweetheart romance gone wrong...but then some more wrong. Ivy and Nick grew up loving each other until both have plans post-college on opposite sides of the country. Parting on not great terms, they each start their lives - Ivy a screenwriter, and Nick working at his family winery.
Fast forward a few years later, their paths cross again in an ironic and funny way! The plot of this story was really interesting to me; I liked all the elements of romance for many characters and anger for others. I did find myself feeling frustrated at several points in the story because of the choices of the characters; it's always hard when it seems like there is an obvious good choice but the character chooses to do something completely different. I always felt myself dying for the ending - I just wanted to see everything come together!!
The characters were fun, and I definitely enjoyed the story! I think would make for a great summer read!!
I was influenced. Hard. And I am not upset about it.
Quick take on this book:
- Piper = Alexis Rose from Schitt’s Creek
- grumpy to sunshine trope
- small town romance
- boyfriend of the year
- 10/10 steam level
I saw @gabby review of this book and that the main character was based on one of my favorite TV characters, Alexis Rose, so I knew this one was going to be pretty good. The chemistry was incredible, as was the small town this romance takes place. Piper meets Brendan, a hot local who’s job is essentially one from Deadliest Catch (#iykyk).
So glad I picked this one up and am VERY ready for book #2!!!
What is a book that you’ve seen so much of that you really wish you could get around to reading? For me, it is this series. When I saw book 1 at Half Price Books last week I knew I had to stag it!
😖grumping trope
💋fake dating
🏳️🌈queer relationship
💫astrology vibes
🔥steamy
This book was everything I hoped it would be - a cute romance with some steam and feels! It felt it dragged on just a bit at times (I really just wanted to get to the ending!!) but will definitely keep reading the series as soon as I get book 2!
