The Damascus Way by Davis Bunn, Janette Oke

This was a good book though it did feel a little dry at times. I did, however, enjoy both of the romances, the ending, and all of the characters. I specifically appreciated the appearances of Saul (and his conversion), Phillip, and Cornelius. Overall, it is a good book but definitely not one of the best. I am giving it 3.5 stars.

Well, Tessa Afshar has done it again. Another amazing, life-changing book. She always does such a wonderful job of keeping the LORD at the center of her books and making sure that there is a lesson behind everything in them. I learned so much from this book and my heart was truly touched by it. Through Rahab's story, the book teaches what it looks like to give your past mistakes to the LORD and accept His mercy and redemption, how to overcome fear by lifting our anxieties up to God (Philippians 4:6-7), how to forgive those who have deeply hurt us, how to serve others well, what true romance looks like… and so much more!!

Overall, I give this book 4.5 stars and recommend it to everyone wanting to read a beautiful biblical fiction novel.

Sometimes, a book I read can feel very dry, causing me to just “try to get through it.” I NEVER felt this way while reading Shadow of the Storm. Not once did I become bored with the story. This rarely happens.

Additionally, I greatly enjoyed the romance between Ayal and Shira. In a way, I could relate to each of their broken stories and loved seeing how God united them in their brokenness to glorify Him. The romance was just so well done. I could feel their love for each other through the pages ❤️.

I also really enjoyed the character development in this book. Each character felt well developed and relatable. I admired all of the characters (with the exception of Dvorah, until the end

I am giving The Hidden Flame 3 stars because most of the book felt very dry and I just had a hard time getting into it. I ended up listening to most of it as an audiobook and still wasn’t really interested until the last half of the book. The ending, however, was beautiful.

God bless :)
The Prince: Jonathan by Francine Rivers

The Prince by Francine Rivers gave me more understanding of Jonathan’s life. I definitely found myself wanting to be more like Jonathan; he was constantly praying, he always stood up for what he believed in, and he loved people around him who were difficult to love. I will definitely read 1 and 2 Samuel differently, and with more understanding, in the future. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am rating it 4 stars.

Bread of Angels is the first book I have read by Tessa Afshar; I am happy to say that she is now one of my favorite authors.

Things I really liked about the book:
- it was not a romance novel but had a small romance in the last few chapters of the book, which I really enjoyed
- the chapters are fairly short, making it easier to not have to stop reading in the middle of a chapter
- it is evident that the author poured a great amount of research into the book, making it extremely historically and biblically accurate. So accurate that I even learned a few things about Lydia and her story that I had not previously “picked up on” when reading in Acts.

Overall, I’m giving the book 4 stars. I highly recommend this book and its author to all Biblical fiction nerds (like me) out there. Be ready to get to know Lydia personally and read a fictional, yet plausible backstory to her life. Enjoy and God bless :).
