Daring to Hope: Finding God's Goodness in the Broken and the Beautiful by Katie Davis Majors

The Lord spoke to me so much through this book that I would never attempt to summarize all He taught me.

In Daring to Hope, Katie Davis tells us of the journey the Lord has led her on to find His goodness in both the broken and the beautiful. She tells us of her darkest times and how she discovered that, had she not gone through those trials, she would have not grown so close to God. It was the hurt, the pain, and the struggle that continually led her to His feet. I think she says it best here: “the things that I thought would break me were the things that drove me straight to Him.”

She also beautifully explores how He provides in the most broken places, how He sees and loves us in our worst moments, and how His grace is truly sufficient for our weaknesses.

Overall, this is definitely a new favorite of mine and I would highly recommend it. 4.5 stars.

God bless,
Kaya :)

In Midwives of Moses by Jenifer Jennings, I especially liked getting to see the Exodus played out through the point of view of the Hebrew midwife, Puah. This book was slow and repetitive at times, however, but was a good read overall. 3.5 stars.

Enjoy and God bless,

Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt

I’ll be honest, I really couldn’t get into Radical at first. I guess it just wasn’t what I needed at that point in my life so I ended up putting it down when I was about half way through.

I decided to pick it up again a few days ago though and wow… it is so good. It is convicting, encouraging, and biblical. David Platt sugarcoats nothing in this book but rather helps the reader to realign their focus on Christ and what He has called us to do.

I have known for a while now that I want so much more from life than to just live the American “dream” while millions around the world are starving and have not heard of Christ. In Radical, Platt really solidified these feelings for me and backed them up biblically. 4 stars.

Until all have heard,
Kaya :)

This book is a wonderful, well written introductory overview to the life of Amy Carmichael. I am so enjoying this series (which is suitable for all ages, in my opinion) and can’t wait to read more books by the authors. 3.75 stars.

4 stars all the way. Forgotten God by Francis Chan drew me closer to the Holy Spirit. I would highly recommend it to those who are struggling to live a Christ-focused life. The Lord used this book to help me greatly.

P.s. sorry for the short review. I’m currently traveling so I don’t have that much time to write a long review.

God bless,
Kaya :)

Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God by Francis Chan

In Crazy Love, Francis Chan teaches about the amazing love of God and how we should respond to that love. This book helped and changed me in so many ways. More than anything, though, it helped me to stop doing things for God out of obligation and guilt but, instead, start spending time with Him out of love. I no longer read the Bible or pray because I feel like I have to but because I want to. I want to love the LORD more, know Him better, and grow in my relationship with Him.

Overall, I am giving this book 4.5 stars. Definitely a new favorite :).

God bless.

Such an amazing book. All of JP’s best Christian dating, relationship, and marriage advice packed into one book. I listened to the audiobook, which made it even better because it was just like listening to one of JP’s sermons. 4 stars.
