Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Okay, this had the potential of being a quick and entertaining read (listen) but the audiobook IMO brought it down a bunch 🥴
While I think both narrators had amazing voices, I don't think they worked well together, much less in the setting of Sun of a Beach.
I personally found the FMC's voice to be too casual and rushed—like someone venting to their friend in a cafe or something—and the MMC's voice from a different time period... basically old lol but not.
Think... Latinx (modern) Sex in the City vs. an old witch from the Originals, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VIBES 😭
Again, great voices on their own but not for this.
As for the Sun of a Beach story itself... the enemies to lovers / workplace rivals didn't work for the 11-ish chapters it had and most of the dialogue (if not all) was low-key cringe but that could've been the audiobook performance 🤕
If anything the "romance" should've been hate to love / workplace rivals / insta love vibes... like we haven't seen each other since the "last time" and I hate to like you but loveeee to hate you, ya know? 👀
idk what I was expecting from this—other than some fire fighter stuff and maybe some action—but The Roommate Pact had me in my feels !!! 🥺
Apparently this was originally titled "Letters to Claire" and I think if Allison Ashley went with that, I would've of been bawlinggggg my eyes out even more 😭
I really loved the friendship to romance between Claire and Graham; it took me a few attempts to get into The Roommate Pact but after the initial hurdle, it was so so so worth it.
When the two of them went to visit Graham's parents 😭😭😭
Okay technically, technically, I've already marked all the books in this audiobook / series as read but...
1. It was hurting my soul when I couldn't just tick them off as I went so... I did? 😜 and, 2. It makes sense on Story Graph with its review system—moods, pacing, questions, etc.—so don't worry! lol
The double ups will even out on my rereads because I'll definitely be doing this series again! 😘

This series absolutely snuck up on me 💘
I initially put off listening to The Runaways because of its intimidating duration but after getting the ball rolling—each story is 15 chapters long plus epilogues—I loved every second of it !!!
So much so that I've already bought all 5 audiobooks (separately) as I finished them 🥰
The ending made me cry; it was such a beautiful ending 🥺 I hope we can see the Runaways again + all their babies grown up in the future.

I bought this picture book for a baby shower and it's absolutely 😍 STUNNING !!! 😍
~ Laura, if you see this, look away. You'll get it next week lol ~
I thought I knew what I wanted to get for said baby shower but Giinagay Gaagal: Hello Ocean took my breath away!
Growing up, I've always loved the art and stories behind the First Nations people and while I learned about it in school, it was always a quick topic they breezed past (at least in my experiences).
And even though there are other Australian children books—like the one's I grew up with—those art styles have always terrified me, always.
So I'm glad I stumbled across Giinagay Gaagal: Hello Ocean because it is 💖 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS 💖

The FMC grew up in an abusive household and ran away to live in a junk yard with other kids with the same situation. All content warnings are off-page (historical) mentions about her mother and grandfather.
