The Duke's Heartbreaking Secret: Historical Regency Romance by Kate Carteret
4.0
I absolutely adored this story. If you are looking for spicy intimate scenes this isn’t the book for you. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a spicy scene as much as the next, but this story was such a sweet love story that made me smile like an idiot more than once. While the intrigue is sinister, it’s done in such a way that you’re never quite sure who the official baddy is. It wasn’t until the very end that I figured it out after many wrong guesses. Honestly it was just the read I needed today and I can’t wait to read some more of this author’s work!! Highly recommend!
Elusive by Ali Dean
4.0
I don’t usually prefer contemporary romance novels which this definitely is. However I surprising really liked it a lot and it was a quick read. This was my first foray with Ali Dean and will definitely check out some more of her books.
The writing is good, it’s a believable story (well 98% believable), and I really liked the main characters. They weren’t saccharine or over the top. One thing I wasn’t overly fond of was the back and forth in the narrator POV. Kate is the narrator for most of it, but it does flip to Evan sometimes. However when it flips is doesn’t continue the story but sort of halfway retells the previous chapter from the other POV. I found it unnecessary and didn’t add to the story much.
So all in all 4/5 stars (maybe really 3.5 but I’ll round up)
*Disclaimer: I was given a free copy for my honest review

Dangerous by Amanda Quick
5.0
It’s been a really REALLY long time since I last read an Amanda Quick romance. After finishing this one, that fact makes me very sad as this was a fantastic novel. Honestly I adored Prudence the main character and the only thing I found annoying about Sebastian was the me way he talked to locks. That was a hit cringy!! Haha
This romance had a strong heroine who stays true to herself the whole time, an intense hero who recognizes the value of her strength, some interesting side characters, mystery, intrigue, and obviously some steamy romance. I found myself smiling a bit like a loon on occasion while ready and I’m not even ashamed of it. This is a fun read, perfect to distract anyone from life’s annoying everyday blah!! Highly recommended!!

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
4.0
I’ve heard of Sophie Kinsella before, I mean I don’t live under a rock, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually read one of her books. So when I was scanning the virtual library shelves for something lighthearted and this was available I decided why not.
What I didn’t expect was for this to hit really close to home. In this day in age of that perfect Instagrammable life, it can be hard to forget that it’s not real. For every perfect photo there are multiple imperfect ones. That’s the heart of this book... that and the fact that it’s normal and down right less boring that way.
I relate soooo much to Katie in this, and I found myself wanting her to win! Thank god I got my wish or I would have thrown my iPad!! She’s strong, yet vulnerable. She’s smart, yet naive, and she’s who we’ve all been at one time or another in our lives. A strong 4/5 stars for a realistic and uplifting story of a modern woman surviving the modern world with a little romance and happily ever after on the side!

Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
5.0
I actually adored this book!! Seriously I read it in one sitting and it’s 4am and I am compelled to write this review immediately!
This is such a feel good romance, and I think Hazel is the most relatable character I’ve read in a long time. Her quirkiness, confidence, and vulnerability are so genuine and tangibly real. Josh is the seemingly perfect hero who actually isn’t quite perfect until he meets the love of his life.
I know, I know, how mushy can you be in a review? Sigh VERY!! Their romantic journey gives me hope for love everywhere. So... if you’re looking for a really sweet and funny love story this is it. Also the sex scenes were steamy perfection, just saying ;)
