The words in this book inspire, challenge, and enlighten. I found myself calling friends to read them paragraphs because they were so well written.

The guiding principle of the work being monstrosity allowed for an aura of power to lace throughout every closing paragraph in each chapter Doyle wrote. I truly would read this over and over.

I’ve never been much of a fantasy reader until I dove into ACOTAR last year and this series has not disappointed in keeping my interest! Great inner dialogue, interesting character development and motivations. Pleasurable smutty scenes that didn’t leave me waiting until 500 pages in to deliver

Adored the follow up to Sera and Ash’s story. Can’t wait for the third installment and a perfect way to kickstart my 2023 reading challenge.

A quick read but some warnings: the synopsis states “she is forced to re-examine her past—and the romantic relationship that changed the course of her life—“

Reader: that romantic relationship was abuse and the book/author has an interesting way of sidestepping that for a large portion of the book.

I struggled with this read but it was ultimately quick and I was curious how this author would turn Saskia (the narrator) into a heroine.

I gave it three stars for the pacing and themes challenged. What was missing for me was character development. A mother who so thoroughly loved her child wouldn’t have cut her out of her life while she was dying. I just couldn’t buy into some of the decisions made.

TW: sexual assault, suicide

This book moved me so deeply. Well-written and extremely well-paced. I adored the characters and at times was moved to tears.
