After picking this book up at the library on a whim, I was excited by the premise - a female detective in early 20th century India, the promise of a mystery full of twists and turns, the third installment in a popular series. However, quicky the phrasing became repetitive, I felt no connection to (or interest in) any of the characters and their problems, and I didn't care to see how the mystery resolved. DNF as I have plenty books in my TBR.

The third book in the series is. Very much like the first two and as a result I lost interest.

This one was just meh to me. I'm not sure if I'll be continuing the series. The writing is always fantastic but the MC is pregnant by the end of the book and that really puts me off the rest of it.
Moderate: Pregnancy

And, finally I have gotten a chance of post about the final book in the Bangalore Detectives Club series. A Nest of Vipers- the famous orange book by Harini Nagendra- third in the installment continues Kaveri & Ramu's journey in 1920s Bangalore.
Set against the backdrop of Prince of Wale's India visit and ofcourse during the independence movement, there opens a new mystery. With each book, the author has expanded and developed Kaveri's character. This time you will witness a lot street magicians, snake charmers and what not.
A mysterious disappearance of a magician- a major theft at a magic show - politics?? As Kaveri starts to uncover a complex plot while also balancing the tumult of Indian independence movement. The unique thing about this book and series is that story has always balanced the cultural and political climate, women's rights and added depth to Kaveri's character. As a women investigator, Kaveri navigates both societal expectations and her own personal growth.
This was a fun, enjoyable read for me and ofcourse completing the whole series gives a feeling of accomplishment.
I will be honest, I want to make a Bangalore tour after this one!
QOTD: Recommend me a book or show which has your favourite city or place mentioned?

As much as I've really enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, this one was a bit too long and complicated for me to follow. It just had a few too many things going on for me to keep track of.
Like the first two books though, I love the history and cultural aspects of the book, the inclusion of recipes and historical context in the end really add something that other books miss out on, a way to really connect with the story.
I also love the strength of Kaveri in every book. She gets so much stronger, and wiser, and really just wants to do the best she can. It's inspiring to read

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in this series-this one not so much. The tension around the Indian independence movement is well depicted. However Kaveri isn’t doing much detecting. Just running around, putting herself in harms way.

After 120 pages in a 300-page mystery, I should care about finishing it, and I didn’t.
