Well written and very interesting, but about 100 pages too long. The middle drags on slowly but then picks back up.

Enjoyed the mystery immensely, wasn't as simple as *"insert name* did everything!"
Very appreciative of the detail that goes into illustrating the beauty of the saris worn and the delicious comfort of the food eaten. Never came across a murder mystery book that had recipes of the foods mentioned attached at the end, each with a description of what it means to the main character.

The setting for the second in this mystery series is Bangalore in 1921. Kavari is looked upon as a the First Lady detective after she solved a murder, and is called upon again to solve the murder of a mill owner. The main suspects are the man’s wife and daughter, and daughter’s fiancée, but something doesn’t sit right with Kavari. The secondary characters of the book, making up the Bangalore Detectives Club, are made up of women Kavari brings together to teach reading and writing. I really enjoyed the book, and recommend to mystery lovers, including those who like a bit of history thrown in. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC.

A pleasant 2nd installment to a new historical series that took place in the 1920s in Bangalore, India.
No surprises or twist-or-turns, Simply a traditional mystery novel that I find refreshing.

A good sequel, I really enjoyed the development of Kaveri as a detective and think Ramu is the loveliest husband. I'm continuing to enjoy the setting and like how this one started to explore the political side of the period too.

I don't love cozy mysteries, and this one has some particularly formulaic stuff. But the setting and characters are fun and interesting, so I will probably read the next one, too.

If you like cozy mysteries, you’ve gotta read Murder Under A Red Moon! This story is written so warmly and richly that I sometimes felt like I knew Kaveri, Ramu and the rest.
I learned facts about Indian culture and history that I didn’t anticipate I’d learn before going into the book. I love The Bangalore’s Detective Club and I will absolutely go back and read TBR first book in the series now!
