Overall enjoyable, easy to read, explains lots of interesting experiments and also discusses some implications - definitely food for thought! Some of the future visions seemed a bit outlandish, some of the conclusions drawn from specific experiments are probably debatable. The part about "How does consciousness come about?" just isn't my primary field of interest and I don't feel like I gained any new insights there. Would have also enjoyed more about the topic of language and the brain, but that's a personal special interest.

This is an abolute must-read! Eagleman's reader-friendly approach of explaining the depths of the human brain through various case studies helps us see yet another fraction of our world of repetitive patterns and fractile-like development.

Very thought provoking. Not overly scientific, but well cited with lots of examples. It’s more about what the brain means for our consciousness and decision making. Plus, it stands up well considering it was written in 2015 and it’s a rapidly changing field.

Extremely interesting and describes a lot of concepts in neuroscience without getting too technical. An intriguing quick read

I enjoy neuroscience books and this one was both engaging and reasonably easy to understand by someone who didn't train in the field. My favorite chapter was about brain development and how teenage brain works. I am so-so on the last chapter of potential developments in artificial intelligence and/or uploading human brains because I think [a:David Eagleman|2883386|David Eagleman|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1238026723p2/2883386.jpg] didn't adequately cover societal challenges that would be involved in such developments. However, it's still a great book to read for someone who wants to catch up with the latest in brain research.
