This was a funny paranormal romance. The MMC thinks he doesn’t want a mate but wait until he meets his mate. She is feisty with a take no shit attitude and gives all kinds of hell. Of course she is in just the perfect situation to uproot her life and rebuild from nothing with her new mate but will she accept him after she learns more about his true nature? Of course she will or we wouldn’t have much of a romance now would we lol. Of course there’s the conflict and the danger that eventually brings the couple together.

Overall, I recommend this book to the paranormal romance crowd. It is what we love and expect out of these types of books with a strong FMC and a strong MMC it’s funny, with conflict, action, romance, and sex.

Wasn’t sure if this book would be a 3 or 4 star read. Not a fan of how fast connections in this book are made. Would have liked a bit more before they all fell in love. Other than that, I enjoyed the last few chapters of the book.

The synopsis for this book was delightful. Unfortunately that’s where my enjoyment ended. The premise sounded hilarious—meddling matriarchs and reluctant sons—but other than 2 throw away sentences in the prologue, I never got to experience that portion of the setup. I felt like I was missing something??

I read five chapters and it wasn’t for me. The storytelling felt very juvenile imo—fun, but so fast that it skimmed past necessary character development and relevant world building, with over exaggerated emphasis on small irrelevant details. Frankly, it read like a hastily written Quizilla writing prompt from my fanfic days.

If you liked this book, I’m happy for you. The story premise had a lot of potential, and maybe it got better after chapter 5, but I DNFed and moved on.

Just discovered this series and here's why it kicks so much ass. The heroine is an introverted, brilliant, snarky, antisocial, kind, thoughtful, quick tempered, girl next door type. Quite possibly my favorite. The world in this series is magical with just about every kind of fantasy being imaginable. ALPHAS are the paranormal archetype (good thing). Minimal drama that seems to be just getting started here in the first installment. This book also has all of my other favorite elements: great fraternity of brothers/warriors, a generous dose of comedy, mating/fated mates, & a heroine coming into her own and finding where she belongs.

My hopes for this series is that it has lots of installments, doesn't deviate too much from the formula of this first book, and just keeps getting better (i.e. a few more passionate interactions between H/h).

Kudos to Alanea Alder!!!

this one had me laughing from beginning to end. Meryn is a girl that stumble upon the world of Lycaonia where she comes face to face with her destined mate Aiden. there is nonstop moments between then that will make you laugh. from Meryn explaining how the human females monthly cycle works, which has Aiden gather the Alpha Team members to suite up and role out on an important mission, a Tampon Run Mission. all of this is what keeps you wanting to keep going, and then once your at the end you are wanting more.

You've been warned.

This was a solid 4 star read for me through most of the book. I got a kick out of the characters. Our heroine had me cracking up with her geek culture references. I loved it. There were little thinks I saw that were off that kept it from being a 5 star, but although they were distracting, it wasn't enough to take away from the story. For example, towards the beginning, it is explained that there are four cities and four council members for each, our heroine asks how that means that there are 12 council members and could end up in a tied vote. Last time I checked, that would be 16, not 12. The fact that she was human and her mate was a very long lived shifter was never addressed, either. One of the elders had a human mate, so it seemed to be implied that the bond may extend her lifespan, but it is never addressed. I was having fun laughing along with the story that I didn't even mind how perfect our heroine seemed to be. Everyone of consequence loved her immediately.

Why dropped this to a three star rating was the ridiculousness of her taking over the command of the troops at the end. The fact that she was supposedly qualified to lead the squad against a feral attack against the city BECAUSE SHE PLAYED WORLD OF WARCRAFT.

*sigh*

Really? WoW made her into a genius command leader. And everyone was ok that she told the elder off and called him names? Everyone was ok with it? And she will face no repercussions because of it?

It was more than I could take. So, yep. There stars
