Depiction of protagonist was substantially different to her portrayal in the TV show, which I suppose is to be expected... but since I love the TV show to bits, I wasn't a huge fan of the more humanistic Temperance Brennan of the book. The life and personality of Tempe seemed to creepily mirror the author, Kathy Reichs. However, a lot of authors draw from real life experiences and at least it adds to the integrity of the novel.

I thoroughly enjoy the Brennan series. And 9 books in I now expect certain 'regulars' to pop up at some point. This one does not disappoint. Close relative? Check. Boyfriend misunderstanding? Check. Old friend? Check. Abrasive local cop? Check. Completely separate cases somehow linked? Check. Brennan ? Check.
Formulaic maybe. Good read? You betcha!

This story took too long to develop. I liked the story and thought that it was interesting, if a little far-fetched at times with the amazing jumps in deductions. However, I was halfway through the book before I really felt like I was getting connected to it.

Another enjoyable read by Bones author, Kathy Reichs. Book #9 in the Temperance Brennan series, Break No Bones follows Temp, a forensic anthropologist, as she uncovers a mystery surrounding several skeletons found in different ways although they share similar markings on their bones.
I always find these books enjoyable. The writing style is very American cop show vibe, but you get sucked into the mystery. The jargon is technical but not too technical that it is inaccessible. I found this storyline particularly interesting as I couldn’t figure out how the cause of death, and I found the plot twists entertaining. All round one of the better books in the series in my opinion.

I'm still enjoying this series, but I am getting a little tired of Brennan's inability to decide between the two men in her life. It's getting a little irritating - just make a decision.

The story is enjoyable, but I find Temperance Brennan so annoying. She does dumb things. And in the end she is treated as being so smart.
Also what irritated the heck out of me was the fact that an identifying chip for cats was treated like alien technology. Out of this world. I'm just not enjoying these stories as much as I would like.

Creepy but enjoyable from Kathy Reichs. Love the books where Andrew Ryan plays a role!

It was just ok. Not that exciting and the details solving the mystery were pretty obscure mentions from the beginning of the book. Since it took me so long to finish it, I had to go back and look for them. Even the love triangle banter didn't interest me. I don't think I'd read the other books or the YA spinoff.
