FINALLY! A Kresley Cole book where the MMC isn't constantly trying to force himself on the FMC!!! Of course she's a ghost which would make it a bit difficult, but still!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the tortured soul aspect to both the characters. I loved the fact that the FMC was sexual and not ashamed of it. I loved that she had more experience than him. I loved that there was character growth.

I'm sick of the fact that the FMC's are always early 20s (at least in appearance if not chronologically). Hey Kresley - women don't become hags when they turn 30! And seriously, these books are about immortal beings - why does it matter how old they look or were when they turned?

Sorry. Pet peeve that applies to pretty much every single romance author.

Anyway, I can finally see why people like these books and am actually looking forward to the next one.

Hrmm. Not a fave. Poor Neomi and Conrad really go through it. There's not a lot of humor in this one, I think my favorite parts were where Nix and Mari showed up. One of my least favorite romance themes is that love cures mental illness; Conrad never fully recovers but he manages to go from raging homicidal hate-filled maniac to functional adult and it's all thanks to finding everlasting lurrrrrve [barf]. I did like that nutria were mentioned several times, since Neomi's house is near a bayou and she likes watching them and the tadpoles.

It's a 2.5
Honestly it was meh...this is the book of the series that i liked the least so far, I was not particularly into the couple and the sex scenes are quite repetitive. The first half of the book was not interesting, it picked up a bit in the second half, but now i need a palate cleanser so that I don't finish my reading year with a dud

Conrad is a Fallen vampire as well as a virgin assassin 😂 His brothers lock him up in a Gothic manor house in an attempt to bring him back from bloodlust. Turns out that the manor house is haunted by a French ballerina who was murdered in the 1920s 👻

This is my favourite one in the series so far. I really enjoyed Conrad and Néomi's relationship. I actually felt so bad for Néomi, living such a lonely afterlife. As for Conrad...omg Kresley Cole needs to write more virgin heroes 🥵 When Conrad's heart starts beating again 🥵

I'm so excited for Cade and Rydstrom!!
