I feel the same way about this book that I do about Catching Fire. Not needed. I felt it was just a filler book and that the author couldn't think of a solid, gripping plan for the plot. All in all, I found it entertaining and you should read the series.

3.5 stars. I didn’t like this second installment as much as the first but they were still pretty good. Definitely missed its hey day for sure but the love triangle here just cemented into this genre. Also it was probably 200 pages longer than it needed to be

I liked this one even more than the first in the series (surprisingly). It was dramatic and tense, but great, and I love the new characters. The change of setting was interesting, and made the story that little bit more interesting, as it was set in a land that felt much more unknown, which added to the sense of adventure.

Oh man, awesome. As much as I loved this book, I am kind of glad that it's over. It was really, really long. If you have ever read any of my other reviews you will know that I won't rate a book with five stars unless I feel the emotion of the book. I need to not be able to put it down, and think about it even when I am not reading it. Angel Fire managed to do all of those things. E.G. I am driving my kids to football practice, and I feel really unsettled, almost irritated. I start thinking, what the hell happened. I don't remember what made me upset. Then I do remember, it's the damn book. Right before I put the book down Willow was emotionally distraught, and all of that emotion carried over. I am convinced that people who do not like to read only feel that way because they have never been sucked in by a really good book. If they had, I just don't see how you give that up. Definitely recommend.

Ok for those of you who are like me, and have the attention span of a gnat, October 2012 is a full year away. As much as I loved this book, I will have forgotten all of the details by then. This is your review. The angels are not the good guys here. They came from their world to ours, and feed off of human energy. This feeding not only kills humans, but it makes them utterly devoted. Willow is the half Angel, daughter of Raziel. Raziel is the head honcho of the church of Angels. After trying to defeat the second wave of Angels coming to their world, Willow & her boyfriend Alex barely make it out alive and are on the run. The angels, as well as all of their cult followers are on the lookout for them, posting their pictures everywhere. Willow cuts off her hair, dies it, and they head to Mexico. Once in Mexico she has a vision of a boy she has strong feelings for, (not her boyfriend)and in this dream she sees them in Mexico City defeating the 12 council members. Sebastian, or Seb is also a half angel, but Willow thought she was the only one. Apparently they are the only two, no one even knew you could make half angels. Seb has always felt the presence of Willow, and has spent his whole life searching for her. Unlike Willow he has known since he was very small about his other angel half. He is, and has been in love with her for a long time. Insert the love triangle that every pnr book has. She repeatedly tells Seb that she is in love with Alex, and nothing will ever come of their relationship other than friendship. Alex turns into a jealous jerk, gives her the ultimatum to choose him, or her friendship with Seb. She, being new at the half angel thing, needs his guidance and having such a close friendship with Seb refuses to choose. He breaks it off, and in the process breaks her heart. Their plan the entire book is to kill the council of twelve, thinking that will in turn kill all the angels. At the last minute Willow realizes they have all been played by Raziel into eliminating the council for his benefit. She & Alex try to stop the team from continuing with the plan but are unsuccessful. All of the council members die, leveling off the entire Mexico City. They barely escape with their lives. Willow, Alex, Seb, Sam the redneck Texan, and Liz are the only ones left. Trish, and Wesley get angel burn in the standoff and turn against their team. Kara, and Brenden were separated from the group and we don't know if they made it out or not. At the end of the book Willow and Alex make up, and they all head to an old military bunker that Sophia told them about before Raziel killed her. Half of the angels were destroyed when the council was killed, but they plan to recruit new members for their AK (angel killer) group and eliminate the rest.

I read Angel Fire as part of my Tome Topple TBR to fulfil the challenge of reading the tome that has been on your TBR the longest. Spoiler: I loved it.

**This is the second book in a series so mild spoilers ahead**

This book has all the elements of the first one that I enjoyed and more besides. It does have a love triangle that can occasionally grated on me but for the most part, I enjoyed this too. We follow Alex and Willow after they've escaped the second wave and are on their way to find some kind of refuge. Then their plans are derailed by one of Willow's premonitions and it leads them to Mexico City, where Seb the only other half angel in existence is. He's been searching for another half angel all his life and has been aware of another presence like him but didn't know who it was. Enter the love triangle. What added to the tension for me in this triangle was the bond that Seb and Willow shared being the only two of a different species. It was an understanding that no one else could have. Admittedly I have been firmly 'Team Alex' all the way through this series, there's just something so charming and earnest about him.

I said this about the first book but it is very 'of the time' there's a lot of breaths released that they didn't realise they'd been holding, some eye-roll worthy lines and yet I am always captivated by these books. The writing is simple yet draws you in and you feel like there's something on the line for each character. The stakes are impossibly high and how can they hope to ever overcome such a challenging foe?

I loved the direction this book took the series and how we have a far bigger cast of characters. From Angel being Alex and Willow to having a whole team in Angel Fire. It's great to read how each relationship in the group differs from the others but also how Willow and Alex's relationship has changed now they're not alone.

The finale had me on the edge of my seat whispering nononono over and over again. Not only did I fear for everyone in the group but also Alex and Willow. Whilst it always seems inevitable that the heroes will win and survive that seed of doubt never really goes away within this series.

Highly addictive.

It's a superb book. It was slow in the start as everyone say but the later parts are so good. I liked the book has it progressed forward. I didn't think i would feel this way when I started the book. You will feel the heartbreak, happiness, joy, excitement and just go read the book.
"Look forward towards the mountains and the sunrise not the broken city in th past."
"If i live 50 years from now or only few weeks I would love to live it with you."

So I really liked this book. I wasn't sure at first weather I would or not because I was just so against Willow falling for Seb. Admittedly, I did switch loyalties in the middle of the book as Willow described her attraction to him, but it quickly ended when Willow was plainly and obviously still in love with Alex and it would obviously never change. I'm happy with how it ended, and can't wait to read the next book. ^.^
