Angel Fire by L.A. Weatherly
5.0
Oh man, awesome. As much as I loved this book, I am kind of glad that it's over. It was really, really long. If you have ever read any of my other reviews you will know that I won't rate a book with five stars unless I feel the emotion of the book. I need to not be able to put it down, and think about it even when I am not reading it. Angel Fire managed to do all of those things. E.G. I am driving my kids to football practice, and I feel really unsettled, almost irritated. I start thinking, what the hell happened. I don't remember what made me upset. Then I do remember, it's the damn book. Right before I put the book down Willow was emotionally distraught, and all of that emotion carried over. I am convinced that people who do not like to read only feel that way because they have never been sucked in by a really good book. If they had, I just don't see how you give that up. Definitely recommend.

Ok for those of you who are like me, and have the attention span of a gnat, October 2012 is a full year away. As much as I loved this book, I will have forgotten all of the details by then. This is your review. The angels are not the good guys here. They came from their world to ours, and feed off of human energy. This feeding not only kills humans, but it makes them utterly devoted. Willow is the half Angel, daughter of Raziel. Raziel is the head honcho of the church of Angels. After trying to defeat the second wave of Angels coming to their world, Willow & her boyfriend Alex barely make it out alive and are on the run. The angels, as well as all of their cult followers are on the lookout for them, posting their pictures everywhere. Willow cuts off her hair, dies it, and they head to Mexico. Once in Mexico she has a vision of a boy she has strong feelings for, (not her boyfriend)and in this dream she sees them in Mexico City defeating the 12 council members. Sebastian, or Seb is also a half angel, but Willow thought she was the only one. Apparently they are the only two, no one even knew you could make half angels. Seb has always felt the presence of Willow, and has spent his whole life searching for her. Unlike Willow he has known since he was very small about his other angel half. He is, and has been in love with her for a long time. Insert the love triangle that every pnr book has. She repeatedly tells Seb that she is in love with Alex, and nothing will ever come of their relationship other than friendship. Alex turns into a jealous jerk, gives her the ultimatum to choose him, or her friendship with Seb. She, being new at the half angel thing, needs his guidance and having such a close friendship with Seb refuses to choose. He breaks it off, and in the process breaks her heart. Their plan the entire book is to kill the council of twelve, thinking that will in turn kill all the angels. At the last minute Willow realizes they have all been played by Raziel into eliminating the council for his benefit. She & Alex try to stop the team from continuing with the plan but are unsuccessful. All of the council members die, leveling off the entire Mexico City. They barely escape with their lives. Willow, Alex, Seb, Sam the redneck Texan, and Liz are the only ones left. Trish, and Wesley get angel burn in the standoff and turn against their team. Kara, and Brenden were separated from the group and we don't know if they made it out or not. At the end of the book Willow and Alex make up, and they all head to an old military bunker that Sophia told them about before Raziel killed her. Half of the angels were destroyed when the council was killed, but they plan to recruit new members for their AK (angel killer) group and eliminate the rest.
