First cover I like in this series, and the cover model looks just like my idea of Slate Solis! A hulking big man and a pint-size young woman are the characters on this book and they are fantastic. Slate is an ex-con and she’s a professional napper. She took over the hammock on Slate’s garden, he turned on the lawn sprinklers on her and we have a match made in heaven.
When Slate first saw Harleigh, she was visiting Trey, who was supposed to be her brother-in-law. Trey’s brother, Dre, is Harleigh’s brother and very gay. What she was doing was passing along information for her father’s company, an underground system to spirit away abused wives and children. Trey was just learning his role, to take over for when Slate got out of prison.
Slate was in jail for killing the man who killed his fiancee, while they were on duty as cops. He spent ten years in prison, and he’s out now, living next doors to Harleigh Tremaine. I just love how all the characters in this series are interwoven. Slate is Izzy’s brother, and Izzy is Rome’s wife. Harleigh is Max Tremaine’s daughter, the guy with the underground system. Half the Bear Bottom MC work in the company. When Slate was inside, he cooperated with Max to relieve the boredom and mindlessness of prison life; once he was out, he was commandeered to work with Max in the company and was convinced to join the MC.
In this book we also get to meet again with Rome, Hoax, Linc, and Bayou, with their wives and children. We even get to see a scene in this book where Tara is killed in the hospital, which we saw in a previous book. All these connections make the book all the more enjoyable for me to read.
So Slate feels broken, unliked, like something is missing inside him. Being out on parole is an adjustment, and he craves to be alone and private. Harleigh’s invasion of his hammock is not welcome, but when he learns the reason, he stops harassing her. Furthermore, as they meet again and again in town, the initial fascination he felt for her from when he was in jail, is strengthened. He wasn’t acting on it, but she did. For such a tiny woman, she was fierce, and as soon as Slate knew she wasn’t married, he cooperated in being seduced. Their story is a lovely tale of a man who felt out of the group, into a man included and appreciated. He was termed a “respected felon” because the cops in town would have done the same as him. In the MC group, they also appreciated him but he insisted on being a loner until the fated Disney trip where they all connected during a violent incident. So ultimately, this is a tale of redemption and love, and a very lovely and enjoyable one indeed. There’s a little plot twist and surprise and a little bit of mystery to make it even more fun. I was intrigued about the reason for this book’s title, and found it hilarious that it’s Harleigh the one that drops the f-bomb a lot. She’s little but fierce and a total sweetheart.

Okay, so I loved Sons of Anarchy as much as the next gal, but I have to admit, I'm not much for the MC reads. Until now, that is. Because I just finished F-BOMB, the ninth book in the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series by author Lani Lynn Vale, and I am totally hooked.
Let me preface this by saying that I'm fairly certain that this series is not representative of the typical motorcycle club read. This book is quirky, funny, and with just enough suspense to keep things interesting. Yes, there is a club, but the Bear Bottom men, and the women that love them, are all about doing good, and about making their little piece of Texas safer, kinder, and gentler for the people that they help.
Harleigh's and Slate's story had me from the get-go, and totally invested until the last page. I just loved them both, and the interchanges between them were laugh-out-loud funny, and sometimes downright steamy, but these two characters clearly belong together.
It's not often that I pick up a series part way through, because I am a fan of starting at the beginning and working forward, but Lani Lynn has such an avid following, and is so prolific, that I decided to take the plunge. I can absolutely say that I can't wait to go back to the earlier books and get all caught up, because F-BOMB is just that enjoyable. 4 stars makes this one a definite thumbs-up for me, and me a happy member of the LLV club. Grab it for yourself and enjoy.

This is so what I needed right now, a book I could get completely lost in.
Lani Lynn Vale never disappoints with her stories, and this one was no exception. Her words just flowed from the pages.
A captivating story full of suspense, emotion, humour, passion and unforgettable characters.
I devoured this book and I highly recommend picking up a copy, or better yet, start right at the beginning of the Bear Bottom Guardians MC series. This is book 9 so there's definitely a lot of history to catch up on.
Such an amazing and addictive series!

This was just so uncomfortably bad to even try to read anymore than a few chapters. It read like notes an author had about a story with dialogue but none of the blanks were filled in. Hard pass

What truly brought the star count down was the MMC telling a gay man that he's a coward for not wanting to upset his parents by being gay. Other things that brought this down are the following: "respected felon" (what the fuck does that mean??), how the hell can he go to Disney world while on parole, they literally never used a condom and essentially were like "let's have a baby" after dating FOR A WEEK, the MMC "knowning" things but it literally they never stated prior or even hinted at prior (her renting the house for example and someone else getting paroled), violence is okay but only when they (the motorcycle club) do it, being kinda lowkey racist and ableist (when at disney world and refering to the people that bothered the MMC when they got too close), and the weird/not at all related quotes at the beginning of each chapter that are so cringy millennial that it physically hurt (I'm all for being millennial but the quotes themselves were terrible and not at all funny).
Anyways I picked this up thinking it'd be silly goofy (in a sense to break up the heavy nonfiction I am reading) and it was not at all.
