I hated it. it was super fast, nothing lined up well, characters were lowkey hard to like, nothing was convincing, and the interactions between characters never felt real

I've only read one other of Maggie Mayhem's books. I enjoyed the world enough to go back to it.
Unfortunately, this story fell a bit flat from my expectations. Granted, I did really enjoy Penny as a growing character, and her family circumstances sure made things interesting. I guess my issue was more with the plot. For all these people being affected by the same spell, everyone but Prax acted like cavemen with nothing but mating and fighting on their minds. I think it would have been more interesting if they weren't such obvious troglodytes and Prax had had to fight for her affection.
Deanna as the shadow antagonist was also a choice I'm not sure about. On the one hand, the twist ending was great! On the other, I feel like she should have actually appeared in person before the last 10% of the book if she was going to be that important.

4.4 stars.
Loved the banter and the dynamic, and the smut.
This was basically what that one book that pissed me off, with its FM, and fade to black scenes, was supposed to be.
But the overall plot and relationship were just missing Something unnameable, for me.

I fell behind on this series the downfall of the never-ending TBR. This book lit the fire under my butt to get caught up. Wow, am I glad I did! This series is amazing, and this book was just as awesome as the previous books. It kept me engaged and eagerly reading on. Prax definitely caught my attention in previous books with his charm and personality, so I was stoked to read his story. I absolutely loved this story, and Prax is probably one of my favorite characters of the series. Maggie delivers time and time again with wonderfully written stories that you just can't put down.

- Paranormal romance
- Spell gone wrong?
When novice witch Penny is left at the altar, she decides to cast a spell to find the love of her life. However, she used a spell she found on the internet and it didn't work the way she thought....she summons Prax, an incubus.
Prax thought the summons was for a booty call, but soon realizes differently. He isn't ready to be anyone's forever, but he's all up being their for right now. But Penny is trying to be her own person - her parents are controlling, her former fiance was their choice, not Penny's. Her parents own the house she's living in and got her a job. How can Penny break free from all of their ties?
Penny is very attracted to Prax, but isn't sure she can trust him. However, she has inadvertantly created a bond between them, which she needs to figure out.
I though Prax was an absolute joy of a character. He is newly released from a contract and is acclimating to his new life in the modern world. He has such a love of life and is very drawn to the charming Penny.
Although this is part of a series, this book can be enjoyed as a standalone.
