This was very good and well done. Some of the rhyming text got clunky since it's working to fit the cadence of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas but overall solid. Good artwork--very inclusive on all fronts--and neither the text nor pictures shy away from saying Pride started as a riot to protest mistreatment. Which is so valuable to see when Pride Month becomes increasingly corporate and disconnected from that moment.

Vikas Adam and Dreamscape Media did an incredible job on this narration. Vikas Adam's voice was so gentle and kind, it made listening to the story so easy. I loved the instrumental in the background; it made the audiobook so great. The way the music perfectly matched Vikas's voice and the story as it changed to fit the tone was perfect. I got goosebumps during this audiobook.

The book itself is also amazing. I absolutely love the story; it was so well written. It talks about important details while keeping it simple enough for a children's book. The rhyme was great. Some of the most important people in my life are part of the LGBTQ+ community, so this story really touched me. I will definitely be buying the book when it is released next month.

A fantastic picture book full of bright colours! I had so much fun reading this with my niece and the illustrations and story were beautiful. I love how it touched on the history of Pride too. So much diversity and definitely one I recommend to families to read with their children.

Thank you to Walker Books for providing me a copy to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ugggghhhhhhh. The story was cool. THE FLOW OF THE RHYMES WAS SO OFF. It was so jilted and had way too many syllables in most verses. It made it hard to read. I think this book could have used a little more text TLC and/or could have just not rhymed. This is a personal gripe that doesn't influence my review in the slightest, but where was the lesbian pride flag? :( Maybe I missed it but I didn't see one.

Good information. Forced rhymes that make it hard to understand for young children

My very first picture book purchase for my new nibling. I can’t wait to watch them grow up and to share my queerness with them through books like these

A couple of forced rhymes can be easily overlooked for the value of presenting the history of the LGBTQIA+ Rights Movement and how that has evolved in Pride parades in a developmentally appropriate way for younger children.
While this will likely be a "controversial" book in some areas due to current political situations, it is a valuable addition to any collection and provides representation from the point-of-view of a child of two moms. And using the popular 'Twas the night before... format adds to a universal & child-friendly appeal. I was left wishing for some back matter or author's note to add some context for older children ready for it.

This rhyming picture book provides an all-ages recap of the origins of Pride, with a central message of joy and the importance of standing up for what is right. This would be a great introduction to children who are wondering what Pride is all about, giving enough information that they won’t be confused, but leaving enough space for them to ask their own questions if they want to know more.
