Excellent book. Kept the whole family giggling all the way through. David Tennant’s narration was fantastic. Highly recommended!

As I’ve grown up, I’ve shifted away from children’s books and moved to young adult and adult books. There isn’t really a time when I go back.
However, imagine my surprise when I find out that my favourite animated movie of all time is based off a book series! That was enough for me to hunt them down and set me with enough determination to read the childish books.
I can’t get over how good they are.
I’m still young, but they make me feel like a kid again.
They’re goofy, the characters are sassy, and it shows the tale of the underdog, which is always important.
The illustrations, also done by Cressida, go along with it so well.

David Tennant as the narrator is responsible for at least 1 of the stars. I started this one in the car with Henry. He wasn't super into it but I couldn't get enough and ended up finishing on my own. EXCEPT. There are no girls! There is 1 girl dragon and at the very end I think you possibly get a mention of Hiccup's mother. I don't love that.

This was cute but I didn't really like any of the characters. Definitely not for me.

Solid but not exciting. The plot and solution are very simple, and although the characters are colorful Toothless is awful. Still, a good pick for a car ride with kids.

This is about as loosely based on a book a movie has ever been in my opinion. I loved the movie, this book was alright but I didn't love the dragons personalities or the Vikings for that matter. And the giant Dragon battle was a touch ridiculous. Maybe I'd have liked this more if I had never seen the movie but it just didn't live up to it at all.
