This novel made me think how rich I could be had I still had those original comic books I had when a child back in the 1940s where I had boxes full of them but of course my mother disposed of them
when we moved from Kansas to Indiana and there was no way they were worth keeping at the time!
The author imagines a horrific arrangement likely planned on the dark web to promote an illegal and sadistic game that was a trap for a Canadian couple who encounter car trouble in a remote section of New Hampshire.
Jack Reacher returns to his childhood and learns unimaginable things about his father and history. Also his instincts lead him to assist the Canadian couple and they wind up with prospects for a far better future than they had any hope when in their predicament.

In his attempt to move south for the winter, Reacher stumbles upon a town he's heard about his whole life, Laconia, NH, where his father was born. Stopping won't take him out of his way and it's only suppose to be a short trip. What starts as a search for the old homestead leads to some gangsters from Boston, a mystery of a 70 year old cold case homicide, and family connections Reacher never knew existed. It's another action adventure Jack Reacher mystery novel, a great quick read.

Even this late in the series, this book is a winner. Very inventive with multiple story lines.

Classic Reacher, great suspense drawn out over 3/4's of the book.

Highly original and intriguing the whole way through. Best Reacher book I've read in a while.

A bit more of a return to form than the previous handful of books with two strong parallel plots which meet nicely at the end. However, one strand remained unfinished and it felt like the author couldn't be bothered finishing it off - an external agency is hunting for Reacher, but they just go away, revenge undelivered. But, that being said, much better and I read it in just a couple of days.
