Greta is a young girl that lived in the forest. One morning she woke up and found all the animals huddled together under the trees. The giants that had always been there had been busy building homes, buildings, towns, and cities. They built until there was hardly any forest left. Nobody stopped the giants as they were all scared of them.
The animals went to Greta and asked her to help. Greta made a sign that said "stop". The giants continued to pass by not noticing Greta, but then others joined her with their own signs. The crowd eventually got bigger and bigger, and the giants noticed.
This is a story of how one person can help create change, and working together for the benefit of everyone.
The art is beautiful, and the story is endearing. I love how the issues are presented. and worked on by all. This story is good for a variety of ages. I'd say 2 to 12.
Thank you to NetGalley for the Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a wonderful little book that is a good introduction for children to climate change and how they can use their voices to make good changes in the world. The art is really cute, the story itself was good, and the information pages at the end about Greta's fight and climate change were a really good place to jump off and go into more seriously talking about climate change and what we can do with children.
Highly recommend this if you have kids in your life or teach kids!

Greta and the Giants disappoints as a children's picture book due to its narrow focus on promoting Greta Thunberg as a role model. While I appreciate the intention of addressing climate change, the book's failure to present diverse perspectives leaves much to be desired. It primarily glorifies protesting, neglecting the importance of taking concrete action to effect change. Children's literature should encourage critical thinking and empower young minds to explore various solutions to global issues. I believe children deserve a more balanced and comprehensive approach to complex topics like climate change. I cannot recommend this book for fostering a holistic understanding of the subject.

This book was so cute and engaged the whole family. My husband recognized the story and its characters, while my children listened and immediately took up the defense of the forest like Greta. The inclusions in the back talking about the reality that this book was based on, as well as giving some ideas on how we can help, were perfect for striking up a conversation afterward. We fully intend on purchasing a physical copy to have for often re-reads in the future.

Greta and the Giants is a beautifully illustrated book capturing the interest of both children and adults alike.
With a captivating story and stunning illustrations this book would be hard to pass up.
The storyline is important and yet easy to follow for younger readers. The back of the book adds an in-depth look at Greta's life story which is a fantastic addition.
This would make a wonderful addition to any child's home library and is an important book for introducing the topic of climate change to children.
I was gifted a digital copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Greta Thunberg, Time’s Person of the Year 2019, is in another picture book. This one makes fantastic her battle against the giant corporations—here literal giants. Greta lives in a forest. The forest animals come to Greta to ask for her help because the Giants are destroying their home. Greta makes a sign and stands in the Giants’ way. They bowl past her, but other human inhabitants of the forest watch, and slowly begin to join her protest until the Giants are forced to pay attention to the crowd. In this story, the Giants mend their ways and begin to live more sustainably, making the forest better for all those who live in it. The giants are portrayed as being greedy and busy but blind to their destruction rather than heartless. I really like the illustrations in this one. I like the hope in this one even if I believe it to be misplaced. Greta is portrayed though as more magical than she is, given the ability to speak to animals, and that is a dangerous line to walk, but then, this is clearly a fantasy if the antagonists are literal giants so a heroine who can talk to animals is not unusual in such a story.

Kirjassa viehätti aikuislukijaa erityisesti kuvitus, miten valtavilta kiireessä toheltavat kaiken tuhoavat jättiläiset ovatkaan ja miten vaivautuneita kiemurtelevat kun jäävät tuhosta ja uhosta kiinni.

This book is beautifully written and illustrated! Would be great to launch into an elementary lesson or unit on the environment, stewardship, climate change, or standing up for what’s right.
