Another Eleanor Swift book down! [Murder in the Snow] is a christmas edition of our beloved Henley Hall family.
I think this book really nailed down the holiday spirit! It was so comforting to read about Ellie and her found family enjoying the holidays.
However despite the lovely atmosphere, book 5 rated a bit lower compared to the other books in my experience. The murder mystery case felt a little lackluster at times. I can't really place what exactly bothered me but it was just generally less enjoyable? Honestly, maybe it's just me haha.
[Murder in the Snow] also carries way less of a romantic subplot. I have to admit, it kind of frustrated me. I really wanted to see some progress. It seemed to leave us at an odd place after the previous book. Eventually we did see some advancements but I'm not really into how Lancelot's shortcomings weren't ever discussed. ESPECIALLY AFTER THE LAST BOOK (I am still positively fuming!).
My biggest pet peeve about this book however is, DONT READ THE BLURB!!!! I don't know why the blurb literally spoils the entire book

rating might be harsh because i wasn't really in the mood for a lighthearted murder mystery with a rich white protagonist. almost didn't finish it.
Graphic: Murder
Minor: Grief, Colonisation, and Classism

I'm new to Verity Bright but I'm sure I will be reading the first 3 of this series very soon! I'm also relatively new to mysteries so this was a delight to read. I love female lead stories and Lady Eleanor is awesome! Everything about the book is delightful.

As usual this series continues to be amazing. Lady Swift is hosting Christmas at the manor for the local village and all the staff have been preparing for days. During the annual race unfortunately a runner collapses and dies. But is it an accident or more than it seems? Also how does it relate to her beloved Uncle’s death?
I love this series as it just epitomes the interwar period for me and especially this genre. I love a good house mystery and Lady Swift is a great character, fun and feisty, very independent and feminist! Plus all the supporting characters are great - who doesn’t love slobbering bulldog. Bless Gladstone.
The narrative of this book is a great read especially at this time of year. I love a good festive read and ‘Murder In The Snow’ has all the good hallmarks - snow, stuck in the weather, Christmas time and a good murder. I really enjoyed finding out more about Eleanor’s Uncle and the role he played in his community. Still wanting to find out more about her parents though!
A great addition to series and I can’t wait for the next one!

I loved this book and now I'll go back and read the rest of the series. I love the characters and the setting. I was transported to a white Christmas in 1920 England and loved every minute of it!
