Don't you hate it when something falls apart at the very last minute?
That's is exactly how I felt about this book.
Everything was going great at first but went downhill soon after. The first 2/3 of this book is just filler really. Ella has regressed as a character and become literally a horny, annoying, dumb, catty protagonist. I was rooting for you Ella, but legit she basically complaining about how she hates having her father back, how much she wants to bone Reed, and finally how hard it will be for her to part from Reed.
So yea, Ella's character became irrelevant and trash. Then we have Reed. The moment you begin to think about Reed in a critical sense you realize how problematic he is. He is overly territorial, and he is dangerously violent. So yea, now matter how Watt forces you to like him, I was like nah bro. Then let's talk about their relationship or lack of. This was a purely physical relationship which shouldn't surprise you at all since this is New Adult. Easton spouts so many inappropriate sexual jokes that one are not funny and borderline offensive. Wade and Val were cool. I enjoyed them, but we didn't see too much of them. Callum is a joke. And steve ugh.
The plot was all over the place with everything happening in the last 40 pages. It was predictable and executed so poorly. Too many problematic things were glossed over leaving me with a sharp distaste of this book and series. The murderer' identity and the father of the child's reveals were shit. So fucking predictable and cheap. There is no buildup at all. It is just dropped out of nowhere.
Even the marketing of these series is way off. "The royals will ruin you". Over dramatic much? Ella is living it up with the royals, so how are they ruining her?
Shame on you Watt. I was rooting for this series. I read these book back to back, but like your Off Campus series you ultimately let me down. Addicting, but utter trash. Next

Okay. I'm Royal trash. Not the best book out of the series, but still, good. RTF.

5 stars reading, hands down =)
I was lucky enough to win an ARC, so here is my honest review for Twisted Palace. No major spoilers, just an overall review. I’m not used to writing long reviews though, so bear with me!
Going into Twisted Palace, I didn’t know what I was up for. Sure, I had read a few fans’ theories, some I found really good, but that was about the plot resolution. I had no idea how the chapters leading to the climax would be filled.
Well, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
Because of the investigation and its consequences, the overall mood of the book is serious. Still, we get some funny comments here and there to lighten it (Easton always there to save the day, and Wade really grew on me), some seriously swoony moments (Reed <3), a good deal of high school drama at Astor Park, but above all, it’s the characters in this series that do it for me. I love them all, and would gladly read each character’s story. There are different kinds of bonds and relationships going on, and I’ve always found them all so interesting to read: father-daughter, bromance, romance, girl besties, brother-sister, brotherhood… So many characters linked through various ways, and I cared about every one of them. It really enhances a reading experience when you’re happy with anyone getting exposure, and that was a feat in itself considering the sheer number of characters we have here. So kudos to the authors for creating such characters!
Again, Ella and Reed shone through as narrators. True to herself, Ella was all fire and fighting spirit, and I loved that everything she does has a good dose of heart to it; at her core, she really is a sweetheart, but a badass one. As for Reed, I loved that he stood for himself and had the courage to take hard decisions for the sake of Ella and his family.
And of course, they rocked together as a couple.
About the book in itself, without going into the plot all I’ll say is that I couldn’t put it down. Until the very end I was kept on my toes and didn’t understand how it would all be resolved… As the pages went on, I feared that the ending would feel rushed, but I had faith the authors gave us a satisfactory ending. I’m glad I was proven right =)
Oh, and I laughed at the Team Reed mention in the book, it brought back fond memories of the wait for Broken Prince ~
All in all, it was a fitting and very satisfactory ending to an amazing series. The overall balance of Twisted Palace was really good, and I’m sure fans of the series will be happy with this book, even if left asking for more. Personally I know I can’t wait to get Easton, Wade and Gideon’s stories, because we ARE getting them, right? Right?? *puppy eyes at Jen and Elle*
